I got Ghost of Sparta and Chains of Olympus as gifts, and through the whole time so far in Ghost of Sparta I am not liking Kratos. I mean, if you thought Marcus Fenix was generic look at him! He's also a real jerk that doesn't even have the "love to hate" vibe. I don't understand why people like him so much, he's not even cool when he does anything. He just goes on a mindless (in more ways than one) killing frenzy! I don't enjoy the character at all, I think they should go back to the drawing board and make him likeable. He's not even badass, he's just an ass. The game is self is pretty meh after 6 hours because of the back tracking, but Kratos is just unbearable to play as. I'm hoping if they make another God of War they switch where it takes place or atleast flesh out Kratos into someone likeable. I actually ran him off ledges after he smashed in the prisoner's head and killed Midas for no good reason. God of War: Egypt with a better character that you want to see succeed anyone?

Zero empathy, bent on power and revenge. I think he's actually pretty cool straight forward character.

I have always seen him as one of the most overrated and shallow characters in gaming, but the games are fun.

It's a great character! But that's just my opinion.

Why not just make him a robot then? T-1000 would be better!

Its not about Kratos, its all about everything else besides him lol.

I like the games but I feel you on Kratos.  I just finished GoW2 for the first time and I'm playing Gow3 now and he just comes off as a really spoiled baby.  Athena is telling him "Kratos, calm the fuck down or you're going to destroy the world!"  And his reply "I'm still pissed because the deal I made with the guy I already killed went bad and I did some crazy stuff (like kill my own family) so I'm gonna kill people who had nothing to do with it because they won't make me forget."

There's more to it than that but his motivation.  Jeez, Kratos.  Get over it.  Have sex with some random women or something.  You're single, dude!!

Yeah, I hate him, but most protagonists in games are severely lacking in the character development department. Games are mostly poorly written.

He's Sony's Marcus Fenix. Which is kind of ironic, seeing as both games are GoW . . .
