I dislike 3D in every shape and form so this makes me happy.

Do you have one eye or something?

Nope. I do wear glasses so that adds to the problem. I think 3D actually degrades what-ever you are watching, It makes it harder to see (darkens the picture) as well as it costs more money. It is a complete and utter waste of technology.

Nvidia has beein doing 3D gaming on Pc since early 2000s and they provide a blanket driver which makes almost all games 3D. Obviously some work better than others but even the ones which are rated as average look better than 3D games on PS3 and 360. Here is a list of games supported... http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-3d-games.html
RealD is making universal 3D glasses which work with all TVs, projectors and are selling them around 100 bucks.Much better than having to buy 1 set of glasses for the TV another for the computer and another if you have a 3D projector.
Texas Instruments, who have been making 3D displays since 2007 don't lock their 3D projectors and TVs to HDMI 1.4. Therefor you are able to use them with Google earth 3D, youtube 3D, PC games, 3D blurays...the only thing they don't work with is PS3(you need an additional adapter to make it work due to sony locking out non hdmi 1.4 devices).

Well actually I was referring more to the fact that our two eyes allow us to see the world in 3D, so I figured your "dislike for 3D in every shape and form" was broader than just movies, tv and games.

| Raze said: The issue is two-fold: 1. People don't want to wear 3D glasses in their living room. This is the very reason why 3D TV didn't happen sooner. 3D is a luxury for the theaters only, and only once in a while. When TVs come out that interpret the 3D graphics without the need for wearing glasses, people will warm up to the idea. Also, people are still or recently have bought HDTVs, and are reluctant to go out and make another big TV purchase anytime soon. 2. Most people have a device connecting their TV to the internet. Most people have a gaming console for themselves, or their kids, etc. Each of the 3 current gen consoles have online capabilities. I've shown my friends YouTube videos on my OOOOLLLLD 32 inch tv via the Wii. For those without consoles, they may have something else, like a Roku or other internet-capable device. Internet TV is a good idea, but not a good idea right now. |
I would argue a little different.
1. People dont want to wear EXPENSIVE 3D glasses. Had the companies utilized the passive system with the cheap glasses where you could by 10 for $20, it would be a far bigger hit.
2. yeah.. my TV can do net stuff, but my PS3 or Wii just does it better, and a great number of households have these devices already. Though Google TV may change that entirely.
