what is v-1?? a derivative??

i believe so, this was on the chapter dealing with inverse.

I solved it! Well first you had to find the inverse. Which was Square Root over r-2960 divided by

-18500...you see my previous mistake was that instead I had x as the variable. My bad.

alright, well done

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

v-1(r) is the inverse function in this case, you just need to solve the equation for r, in which case you get:

r = sqrt( 0.16 - v(r)/18500)

Now simply replace v-1(r) with r, and r with v-1(r)

v-1(r) = sqrt( 0.16 - r/18500)

You only have to be careful with the limits in which these kind of systems are set. For example, here you know that velocity varies with the distance from the center, but you have a 0.4 cm radius here, where at 0cm you get the maximum speed and at 0.4 cm you get the minimum speed which is zero. If you don't set the limits as the system working between 0 and 0.4cm, then you will get negative speeds for radius bigger than 0.4, which makes no sense as you know there's no bigger radius possible and you will verify that because you will be getting the square root of a negative number after you solve for r and replace with the values of r > 0.4cm.

Hope it helped.

lol as soon as i saw the diagram i thought wow, how many ppl here are gonnna be able to help you with fluid mechanics. then i realized it wasn't that at all lol. I actually just attended a seminar by one of my profs about blood flow and coronary stents.

anyway my post is useless as you've solved both problems. gdluck on your exam.

I hate calc. I hope you pass your final.

It's really enjoyable..well sometimes. I will pass for sure. Looking forward near perfect score. I should do good with the clarification of those two problems I was having issues with.

You love calc, ask people here to do your homework for you, and expect to get a perfect score on your final?

Yeah, ok.

Yeah, ok.

I made a 98...I just got done taking it. So yeah I expected that. I just needed some clarification, nothing hard.

I don't see what was wrong w/ him asking for help. I do rly well in my courses yet the majority of my time is spent being stuck, not knowing what to do. It makes you ask questions and discuss ideas. Once you realize what things you don't know, that's how you learn anything. Then it's up to him to put in the practice and repition.
