Forums - Microsoft - MS and EMEAA

Kinect is out and didn't push 360 sales over PS3, big ip's like GOW3 and Forza not coming untill fall 2011.

Do they have something big? If yes, why they didnt show it at VGA?

They doing very well in Americas, not so good in Japan. Both systems are very close in Europe.

Looking at 2011, SONY just too kick start the year brings LBP2, K3 and ME2 losses exclusive status.

Rest of the year looks even more promising.

What will it take to get ahead of PS3 in EMEAA next year?

Discuss.

What? They're doing extremely well in the old 'Europe' or the big 5 nations in Europe. Where they falter is in other Europe, Middle East and Africa. So what can they do in those regions? Probably promote the box better and make sure that the online content gets pushed to those regions so it can be accessible on Live.

Tease.

Here  (in Belgium) not much. There are doing great and are getting more and more known in europe. But the ps brand has a very big name in europa and the xbox not. I think the next gen ms will lead in europe, but not now

well i live in the uk and over here the 360 is a total beast

Just look at the HW for the last few weeks in uk and youll see what im talking about.

End of 2012 prediction:

xbox 360 : 73-75 million  playstation 3 : 72-74 million  wii : 104-105 million

Most hyped for :

Bioshock: infinte, The Last Of Us, Alan Wake's American Nightmare and Agent

Well it is the emerging markets where the real difference is.... apparently.

In the big markets there isnt much in it to be honest.

indeed, emerging markets are the way to go imo, maybe i say this because i come from one of those, but they really have the potential to become one big BIG market alongside with US, Europe and Japan.

pshh ha most the online content on xbox live other than playing and facebook/twitter isnt even usable here in the U.S. virgin islands the hell make you think they gone give a rats ass about africa....

I don't think MS can really do that much in EMEAA. Xbox 360 is so much stronger than PS3 in the Americas because Microsoft is an american company. PS3 is so much stronger than Xbox 360 in Japan because Sony is a japanese company.

None of these companies are from Europe, so Europeans do not have any of these nationalistic feelings, they are unbiased in that respect when they buy consoles. And they prefer the PS3, simply because of all the advantages and additional features it has.

But in the end, it's the cost-benefit ratio that decides. The 360 is currently only 50-150 Euros cheaper than the PS3 in EMEAA, and the majority of Europeans is willing to pay that extra money for the PS3. That was different when the PS3 was more expensive, and it might change again if Microsoft reduces the price of the 360, so I would say a price drop has the best chances of helping Microsoft get above Sony in EMEAA.

It depends what EMEAA are you talking about.  In the named countries 360 is staying right with the PS3.  It is in the unnamed other countries that the 360 is slipping.

Its libraries that sell systems not a single game.
