Forums - Microsoft - Question about the different Xbox 360 versions

Hey guys, I have a question about the different Xbox 360 versions out there. I know that on Xbox.com, you can see the extra content you get when buying an Elite over an Arcade version, etc. I also know that there's that Halo 3 Special Edition console...

Anyways, I've noticed that every versions of the Xbox 360 come with a wireless controller, but I've noticed that on the side of the Halo 3 Special Edition console box it showed a battery charger + that little cable thingy, unlike on the side of the Elite console box where it only showed a black controller...

So with that said, will I really have to buy a battery charger + that little cable thingy separately if I get the Elite version or will it be included with it after all? Like did they simply forget to put it on the side of the box?

The thing is, I don't really understand why it shouldn't be included with every other versions anyways... What makes the Halo 3 Special Edition console so special?

Thanks in advance! =P

Thats the play and charge kit. You dont need it, but it helps cause it charges while you play. The regualar premium comes with a charger, but if your battery runs out while your playing, you have to wait till its charged again. Its better to have it, or have 2 batterys, one kept charging while one is in use.

note: that one charge lasts over 20 hours, so even if you have one battery, it should be long enough actually, unless you play for over 20 hours straight.

So what you're practically saying is that it doesn't come with the Elite, just with the Premium and that Halo 3 Special Edition one?

I was planning to buy another controller so me and my bro could play split-screen on Halo 3 with XBox Live but man... I thought buying 1 controller and 1 "play & charge kit" was pricy, now I'll have to buy 2 if that's the case!

But anyways, I just don't see myself buying regular batteries all the time, and rechargeable ones are just a pain the butt!

All versions come with a charger, the play and charge kit is different. Its a usb cord that plug into the controller while you play. Kind of like making it a wired controller temporarily. It actually only comes with the Halo 3 edition or is sold separately for $14. You dont need it and like I said, all versions come with a charger and a charged controller lasts for over 20 hours.

Oh, I see... Well that's not so bad after all!

Thanks for the info, I was a little bit confused about this whole thing. 20 hours is more than enough for me! =P

I really don't think this is true. I bought my premium 360 just a few months ago and it came with the battery pack with two non-rechargeable batteries in it. I don't think all premium 360s come with a charger.

Only the Halo version comes with a charger, because you can't buy a green play and charge kit. The others just come with AA batteries.

Been a long time since I bought my console (Jan 06), but you definitely want the play and charge kit if you play a lot. I couldn't imagine how many batteries I would have gone through in that time.
