Forums - Microsoft - 13 World Premieres Confirmed for VGAs

Each year, Spike TV hosts their annual Video Game Awards show recognizing the latest and greatest video games and developers across the industry. While the show started off as more of an embarrassment, over the past couple years it has evolved into a venue where major AAA titles for the following year are announced and premiered.

This year will be no different. For close to a month now, GameTrailersTV host Geoff Keighly has been teasing major reveals from Sony, Microsoft, Bioware and many more. A press release today revealed that a total of 13 world premieres are scheduled to debut during the show.

Confirmed thus far are the following titles:

Batman: Arkham City

Resistance 3

Thor: The God of Thunder

Guillermo Del Toro's video game

Bioware's next game

and a special "Gears of War" announcement

That leaves 7 more yet to be revealed titles, one of which we are sure is a Sony PS3 exclusive as Sony is holding a special event to show off a new title the day following the VGAs. Recent teasers sent out to promote the VGAs also hint toward a Prototype 2 debut.

"Life is but a gentle death. Fate is but a sickness that results in extinction and in the midst of all the uncertainty, lies resolve."

Halo CE Remake would make the VGAs go from good to head-exploding awesome. New RE4 style Resident Evil would be much appreciated. The new Silent Hill might make an appearance. With any luck Codename Kingdoms will be present, and with a lot of luck, Timesplitters 4 (Lolz.)

New Tales would make rainbow unicorns fly out and dance on stage while simultaniuosly erradicating world hunger, so I'm not holding my breath, since I haven't seen that happen since Feb. '08. That and Namco hates localizing Tales games (It gives them a sense of power. Overcompensation, really.)

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

For what it's worth a Dutch game journalist said he knows of a huge RPG that will be announced probably within the week.

Knowing what games he like and since he was very excited it can't be a JRPG or an MMO so this leads me to believe an Elder Scrolls game could be announced.
