Forums - Sony - Has Sony game studios come a long way since pre-Playstation days?

I figure I would throw this out as a question to ask others, rather than myself say "Yes", state why, and then post a DISCUSS.

Anyone remember Sony's videogames prior to the Playstation?  I remember they did stuff for the SNES, and Sega CD.  As far as I remember, these titles were forgettable for the most part.  Anyone else remember these and can argue stuff like Hook was quality stuff?

I ask that, because I would think anyone would be hard pressed to argue NOW that Sony doesn't have real good to great first-party titles.  Sony has had stuff like Gran Turismo, to other second-party stuff.  Throw in God of War, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, inFamous and a number of others.  And then consideer the MLB baseball game, which is critically acclaimed as the best MLB game in the business.  Understand here I could go on, but it would be hard pressed for me to even name them all.  Ok, I will name one more, LittleBigPlanet, which I am a fan of.

I would consider this as coming a long way.  Anyone else have thoughts on this?

Well, I would go back as far as the original Playstation with that.  They had a number of good and notable first/second party stuff.  The PS2 even had more.

As long as Sony continues on the path of picking up developers then they have and will continue to go a long way.
