what do you guys have something to hide? The govment can watch my every move,my life is boring as hell. lol

Not so much having something to hide, more so how it goes against everything this nation was founded on. Our government has become the oppressor the colonists fought against over 200 years ago.

yea,I feel really oppressed just living my everyday boring life, still being able to do whatever I want. All of that stuff in the links is really nothing, compared to what other countries probably have to go through on a daily basis,I'm talking about countries like north korea and Iran. They goverment can watch me all they want,I really could'nt careless. That's just my take on it.

The Patriot Act needs to go the fuck away as soon as possible. Democrats I thought would have tried something already =/

Why?  Most national level elected Democrats have voted for it or something similar over and over again.

They don't tend to be big supporters of the US Constitution, libertarianism or liberties at all.

You speak the truth, brother

What do other countries have to do with the USA?

So other countries having more problems mean the USA should just settle?

Right, you can go on ahead and enjoy your everyday boring life, but when the gov't sees that you dont care, they'll advance further and move that line. When you can't watch certain tv shows or movies, listen to certain music, read certain books, and even limit what videogames you can buy, you'll wonder how it got that far. It got that far because you didnt stand up at the line that was drawn prior.

When they enact strip searches and cavity searches in order to board a plane, you'll ask how it got that far, when you didn't mind pat downs and full body scanners.

When they arrest you for asking why, you'll wonder how the gov't got so powerful. It was because you didn't make them fear you when they were weaker.

Proud Sony Rear Admiral

A political party is just like a dedicated sports team. People will blindly support their team and stay loyal to them regardless of their performance. If anyone says a bad thing about their team they will defend them and attack anyone who criticises their team.

I personally do not care for politics or sports. It makes no difference which side is in government or which team wins the championship. It makes no difference at all in my life. So why bother if political side blue, green or red or whatever is in government? I do not vote and I have no time to listen to white haired middle aged  men argue over pathetic issues.

One person will claim they are right and argue the other person  is wrong. What if both sides are wrong? Politicians pretend to be experts in most fields and are know it alls. They read prepared speeches on issues they know little or nothing and appear to be enlightened.

BTW: What is the Patriot Act? Being from outside of the USA, I have never heard of it.

A large anti-terrorism bill that provides for a bunch of stuff like money set aside specifically for anti-terrorist acts.  The parts people are mad about are the survelince parts.

For example, it's a lot easier to get wiretaps on non-citizens, they can now get warrantless "taps" on peoples internet, the ability to excute a search warrant before you serve it to the person, makes it so that a wiretap can be put on any phone a suspect could be using rather then needing a specific wiretap for each phone.... all kinds of other stuff.

Anti-terror laws sound really bad. The same sort of laws are used under a police state under a dictatorship. People can be arrested for no reason and kept in detention without legal representation.

The State police can arrest a person suspected of being a terrorist/enemy of the state and torture/interrogate them for information.

Government wiretaps were used by Richard Nixon did during his infamous reign as US President. With the Patriot Act the US government can  legally wiretap and plant bugs to track people.

They could of legally bugged and wiretapped people before.  The patriot act just made it easier and alowed "roving" wiretaps which are problematic because they allow people to become "collataral" victims of the tap.
