Forums - PC - OnLive introduces unlmited play option for $9.99/month

Note: My problem is with the buying a service.. not buying games digitally to own.

Oh snaps... it has begun.

Don't buy this trash people... buying it is like selling your souls. The big problem is that it's a service... not something you own. If we turn gaming into a service rather then something you buy and then own forever then were at a huge disadvantage as consumers. Think about it...

- Your going to pay for all the games... even the crappy ones and as a result pay less for the good ones... making demand for quality titles less relevant.

- You don't own the games... ever heard of the saying.. "don't put all your eggs in one basket"? Well this is basically just that. They have so much power over you, "they own you", and they can take all your games away and do whatever they want if this service gets big enough and lives long enough to do so.

It's a trap, don't buy the service... buy the games.

Note: My problem is with the buying a service.. not buying games digitally to own.

All gaming systems, consoles/PC, have thier perks... why fight over preferences? I like Coke and you like Pepsi, that's it, let's not fight over which toy we like best cause that's what they are. Is someone's preference in a toy important or is the relationship between you and your neighbor more important? Answer is obvious, but THE most important thing is your relationship with God almighty. God Bless you in Jesus's name.

I can communicate without talking... I can send a loved one money without actually sending money... and I can commit theft without the product disappearing, the point of theft is the point of theft not one of it's possible symptoms which is the product dissappearing. The thief wants to gain something without paying for it, that's the point of theft, the thief doesn't have to care or anybody else has to care if the product dissappears. The product dissappearing is just a possible symptom of theft. Gifts are sacrfices, in order to give a gift, it has to be a genuine sacrfice/gift, meaning a copy of the game isn't still in your PC. Piracy is theft and/or being a culprit of theft.

Just came to post that here. This is what i origianly thought onlive was going to be like when it came out, which is also the model I see taking over for gaming when it matures enough. I agree right now it is a little to laggy and the video feed not quit up to par. But for 9.99 a month it does not seem bad so i may give it a go for a ittle while.

I used Onlive for the first time last week to play through Batman: Arkham Asylum. I was impressed overall. My PC won't run the game, and I don't have a 360 or PS3, so this was a good way for me to be able to play it. Unfortunately Arkham Asylum was the only title of the small selection that I wanted to play. But if they ever do expand their catalog significantly I would be very interested in it for 9.99 a month.

For $9.99 a month, it might be more worth it to upgrade your graphics card. You can buy a decent one for a bit more than $100, or about one year of Onlive fees.

The graphics card will easily last more than one year, and it will allow you to play whichever games you want, not just the ones Onlive wants you to play.

The only way that $10 a month might be worth it for me is if they have a really awesome games library for that price. And then I have serious doubts about their profits if they offer that price.
