Forums - Gaming - Why don't companies re-create amazing games?

A lot of remakes have been made. Golden Eye, Perfect Dark, Mario Games, Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest and so on. I think this works best if they do it like they did with Perfect Dark. Where they re release the game with improved graphics and a better frame rate but at a lower price.  I mean the majority of the game has already been developed so the cost of making a  remake is much cheaper. Pass that benefit on to the consumer.

the banicoot in australia are almost exincted sadly and it seems that crash games are too

only way for them to surive is if Naughty Dog take them in and do an successful breeding program

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

Its not that easy, dude.

Resources & talent play a big part in making games...those can't be blatantly copied.

Nintendo actually does this.

I want a Battle city remake.

A lot of games do that and fail.  They will try to copy the core concepts and then completely miss what made that game special.  Sometimes games are simply released in the right place at the right time and that's why the copy fails or other times they're missing one of the more subtle parts of the games and that's why it fails.

Either way, games constantly borrow from other games, that's half of what being a designer is all about.

Companies do this all the time.  They've been remaking Doom, Zelda, Mario, Wii Sports, and Grand Theft Auto for years.  They just keep changing the name of the game and the name of the bald guy who kills everybody.  I could probably name 20 attempts to remake Mario Kart off the top of my head.

The difference is the company that created crash bandicoot is still with Sony. So i am sure they know what they did to make the game so special.

I think naughty dog could pull off a crash bandicoot clone. Just create a crash bandicoot how they would do it today but just change the lead character and name of the title

Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!

Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st

this happens whenever something is popular, think about how many Wii sports clone there are.  Or Mario Kart, or Pokemon, etc

They changed the name of the guy who kills people in Wii Sports?

And Wii Sports Resort is not a remake, or were you more meaning Kinect Sports and Sports Champions?
