Forums - Sony - Gamers Line Up For Gran Turismo 5 in Japan

To be fair, there were pictures of people lining up for Kinect in Japan as well, so it doesn't really mean much.

That being said, there's no doubt GT5 will outsell Kinect in Japan. The question is, how many PS3s is it going to push?

This is actually pretty true. And besides, lining up in Akihabara means nothing by the way. This is really the nerd district in japan, they line up for anything electronic or video game related.

Final fantasy 13 however, was a huge lineup all over the city, which was impressive.

I do think GT5 will be a hit in Japan. Look at the car list! So many Japanese cars and the game has a japanese flavour to it as well.

I'm guessing about 100k PS3 hardware.  I was pretty close estimating 250k HW for FF13.  I think it was 230k or something.  People thought I was crazy for thinking it would do over 150k at the time.

I'm hoping we get first day figures soon, though.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials

Conservatives:  Pushing for a small enough government to be a guest in your living room, or even better - your uterus.

Yeah well, we'll let the numbers do the talking. Can't expect Gran Turismo to have lines like Final Fantasy in a region where Final Fantasy is bigger.

No, trust me I want the game to do well. I bought it myself and I love it
