Forums - Sony - ADVICE what is a good hard drive to put in my PS3

It has to be a 2.5"inch SATA laptop hardrive.  it dosent really matter how much space is on it.  I got a western digital.  Just google it and there website will come up.  I put a 640 GB in my old 80 GB model.  just make sure you dont lose your save files and what not.  theres videos on youtube on how to chang it out correctly.

ok thanks guys,

price doesn't matter father xmas is buying it and he only buys the best

model doesn't make a difference i guess but why do 7200rpm have problems

They don't have any problems. Some people belive they generate more heat and would be overheating but that's bullshit since diffrence in 7200 rpm and 5400 rpm is something like 2,5W vs 2,0 W.

So go for 7200 rpm drives since they will make loading a little bit faster.
