lmao if u think rick ross is lyrically good u need to listen to more than just the shit u hear on tv  and radio dude is all kinds of wack

Rick Ross is average at best, he's good enough now for me not to want to turn his music off as soon as I hear it, though. I barely even listen to mainstream music anyway soo...lol? I'd also say KanYe West is above average, but definitely not a Top 20 rapper. But, what he lacks in lyrical ability, he makes up with creativity, innovation, production, etc. He has pretty good wordplay too and Double Entendres'.

And not liking his album because of too many "Instrumental moments" or w/e Is kind of funny to me. Some of the best album's ever made were just all instrumentals. But w/e bruh bruh.

i see your name is after the goat rap album.....what i mean is if i wanna listen to an instrumental album i would buy an instrumental album...also i do not find sampling old songs to be creative whatsoever....plz explain how kanye is so innovative...what has he done that hasnt been done before?

Reasonable Doubt >>>>>>>>>>>> Illmatic :)

Uhhh dog, their both Hip Hop classics. You shouldn't hate on him because he's choosing one Classic 5-Mic album over another. Now if he said The Carter III was >>>>>>Illmatic you could tell him to GTFO but in this case, it's not needed or valid.

Also, I would say Reasonable Doubt has aged considerably better than Illmatic..same with Ready to Die..its aged better than Illmatic

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

When you say Album of the Year, do you mean whether it will win the Grammy for Album of the Year of what? 'Cause if that's what you meant, then no, he won't win it. The Grammys (and the music industry in general) hate him for being such a douche who thinks he should win every award on the planet.

I honestly doubt that is going to matter considering the rave reviews this is getting. And how good the album in general is. I honestly have no doubt that it is going to win the Grammy for Album Of The Year.

His first album got raves also, yet he lost the Album of the Year Grammy to a dead guy's duet album. He didn't even win Best New Artist that year (he lost to Maroon 5). Likeability within a particular industry matters a lot for these awards shows that are not voted by the public (why do you think Sandra Bullock won an Oscar for a performance that any actress could've done right in a terrible movie?)

The guy's an a-hole (think what he did to Taylor Swift at the VMAs last year) and the music industry and the Grammys hate him. It doesn't matter how good the reviews for his album are, I'll bet you that at the 2012 Grammys (his album was released too late to be eligible for next year's awards) he will not win Album of the Year (this will also be because the Grammys don't give top awards to Hip Hop/Rap albums or songs - Outcast's Spealerboxx/The Love Below is the only Hip Hop album who ever won the Grammy for Album of the Year, and no Rap/Hip Hop track has ever won Record of the Year or Song of the Year).

Lauryn Hill's - The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, says hello.

I won't be shocked if he does win, I mean this album is just doing too well commercially. if they ignore this, people are gonna go crazy...

Don't you think I didn't know about that album. It's just that it had a lot of R&B in it, and was actually submitted and won in the R&B  categories (there was not Rap Album category back then, and it might still have been submitted in the R&B field regardless). Plus, even if you were to consider it a rap album, still only 2 such albums would've won, which isn't a lot.

And don't mind me saying "I told ya so" when Kanye looses in 2012.

Its all good man. I'm just hoping he wins, because it would make a statement and maybe the way award shows are run might change. I haven't really liked how certain artists/genres of music have been treated during certain award shows lately, its kind of unfair. I think almost anyone can agree about that, I can barely even watch them anymore. It seems more like a popularity contest these days.

They are popularity contests (sadly), but popularity within the industry, not within the general public. The fact that you have to "campaing" to get nominated and win at these awards shows is a good indicator that most these awards are a sham.

Quite frankly they're fun. For me they're like those sports matches most of you watch.

The problem is, it's Kanye West. Can't stand him. He might be the biggest douche out there....

Recovery is a bad ass album. That Em verse, in No Love, might be one of the greatest verses of all time, like he says....
