i hope this was a joke. i bought a $90 (~£50) dvd player 3 years ago and it can play DVD's, CD's, MP3's. Sony brand too, not some cheapo brand. And using a portable ipod as the MP3 player for comparison to the ps3, ummm...yeah. i hope this was a joke.

 well PS3 fans deal with it EVERY FUCKING DAY even in their own dedicated forum. You have to understand it makes us/them a little defensive.

Anyway, the PS3 offers great value for money. We already knew that but Sony do need to get away from that because it's the games that will matter for the PS3. Sony has a great lineup of games coming and that should be what they are focusing on, forget justifiying the cost. That ship has sailed, they now need to provide the games for the system to sell.

 Its not a joke, its corperate banter. MSFT told us all HDMI wasnt necessary thus they add HDMI port. 20gb is MORE than enough, here comes 120gb. everyone knew HDMI should be there and that 20 gb wouldnt be enough for xbox live downloads. The same as everyone knew that Sony didnt really think rumble was last gen.

Im really sick of people getting the nooses tightened up when these companies make PR everytime. Dont you people understand, every company makes stupid comments and we should all be laughing at them ALL. But here, its only right to laugh at Sony. Nintendo has it right, they only talk when necessary, but the amount of flack Sony gets above MSFT here is absurd.

People act like this is osme revelation or something to the business world or something. 95% of what all of these people say is bullshit, and thats for ALL companies not just sony. 

Nintendo fans had to deal with it for 12 years. Deal with it, but you can at least have some humour. This ad is a joke and everyone who tries to defend it is a joke too.

MP3 players don't necessarily have to be portable.

Im not defending this add, i think its hilarious...i was only giving my opinion on why preople who frequent this site for PS3 discussions generally react the way they do....regardless of what jokers did in nintendo threads for th elast 5 years its no excuse.

You have to admit, the ad is so off-base-from-reality as to be a possible parody -- especially the picture of the portable MP3 player as part of the formula. NJ5's comments following are quite funny, actually, as they did indeed leave out all the other things it can do -- i.e. play games (hence add in the cost of a 360), hold down paper in a windy room, etc. You can add to that media hub, linux computer, upscaler, etc. ad nauseum. Relax. It was comical. The PS3 is a fine piece of hardware. This ad, however, is not fine.

The same could be said of the 360 if they produced such as asinine ad. I would say they missed items like portable space heater, christmas lights, white noise generator, and so on. See, that would be funny, too.
