Forums - Gaming - iOS has more 'games' than just about any other platform

Consoles are a very strict platform to develop for. Devkits are more expensive historically I heard they were 10k . Then you needed to prove to the console manufacturer that you are worthy. As an example Nintendo requires you to already have established credentials in electronic games. Don't be surprised that all the main platforms are like that.

Open developement enviroments are robust with games when the OS has enough market penetration. DOS, Windows, iOS... are far more open that don't require a joke to start development for. However it's a double edged sword. Open environments spawn the best game play designs around on average, but also get the biggest count of garbage games by something of 100:1. So what do you do select and choose what games are worth or not? that would be pretty unfair.
