Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

more than 1,000 French gamers, aged above 15, responded

If anything you can say the PS3 and 360 is head to head. It says nothing about the totals sold, because it is only for gamers above 15, and it just 1000 of them.

"Wii comes next, with 11% of the gamers owning Nintendo's product. The Xbox trails the Wii with 10%, while the Xbox 360 has only 4% market share, even behind its later-arrived rival PlayStation 3 (5%). "

So basicly 11 people had a Wii, 4 a 360 and 5 a PS3. That just not telling at all.

1000 people is a very common set number for statistical demographics for marketing. Asking more takes time and money, asking fewer doesn't give a good enough picture.

Hmm, pie.

Yep, 1000 is a standard number for such kind of research.

Just_Bet: not 11, 5 and 4 but 110, 50 and 40.

Sorry about that, still it just a little random. Yes it is a common number but the error range is still high and only can show trends. And here it should be Wii = 2*360 && 360=PS3. :)

Welcome to France...
Welcome to 2001

:D
I don't think it is all that old for some people in France to still have a PS1.  Hell, I still have and use a Sega and SNES.  I don't have a DS but play a GBA and still have a GB that works.  I even have a PSX.  Although, clearly, most people are not that hardcore.  Anyway, we must also keep in mind that people in most of Europe tend to get systems and games up to a couple years after America and Japan (as products tend to be released 1st in those markets and people in America and Japan tend to buy more games and other factors).

currently playing: Desktop Tower Defense (PC), Puzzle Quest (DS), Trauma Center New Blood (Wii), Guitar Hero III (Wii), Ghost Squad (Wii), Actraiser (SNES), Donkey Kong County (SNES), The Legend of Zelda (NES), Kirby's Adventure (NES)

will play next: Paper Mario (N64), Golden Axe II (Sega), NiGHTS (Wii)

definitely not talking about sold in 2007. Are you trying to say that the PS1 outsold the Wii this year in France? This is clearly some sort of survey talking about what gaming consoles people own

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

It's a survey of 1,000 people that found a 1% difference. Not really anything i'd take to heart.

Surveys like that have a problem of who participates as well. People who have niche products are more likely to respond because they figure they "owe" it since it's unlikely someone else will report. Hence why it's likely so many people who still love their PS1's had participated, and possibly the PS3's numbers as well.

It's most likely a case of selection bias.
