Forums - Gaming - Sony and Microsoft will join forces within the next 10 - 15 years

I could see this happened, but only after one or maybe two other firms enter the  industry.  Apple and Google maybe?  The partnership is either going to be awesome or utter shit, no inbetween IMO.

And to all the people talking about console reliability, Sony aren't that far behind MS, I'm on my second PS3 and my 3rd PS2.  While conversely, I'm still on my first Wii, DS, DSlite, DSi, GBA, GBA SP, GBA Micro, GBC, SNES and NES

Under John Rambo's and my dead body. Only if Microsoft does nothing but make a couple of their first party games and the rest is Sony. Don't touch that perfect PS controller.

Funny, that is what I thougt but exact opposite. Sony could make those few good 1st party games and stay away from everything else. Especially the controller.

That controller obviously did something right, as it's proven itself for nearly two decades.

That controller did something right only for the people with really, really tiny hands. :(

Oh gawd. If they got together the dual shock is the first thing that should go. Theres a reason why in every top ten controllers list the Wavebird and 360 controller are ahead of it.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

No. You don't sell hundreds of millions of consoles to just "really tiny hands".

This topic is pointless though, because this isn't happening.

So you think the console would not have sold that much if it had a better controller? I see, go on.

Microsoft made a very good architecture in terms of price/performance and with very consistant general performance whilst being easy to utilise. I don't see why people ought to write them off. If the collaborated like the PS3 then the software team won't know what the hardware team is doing and vice versa except it'd be even worse. If they worked together then one and only one should make the hardware design and software. However theres no reason to state that this shouldn't be Microsoft.

You completely missed the point. If it needed a better controller, the PS2 wouldn't have been the success it was. A controller helps shape a console, obviously. How the Hell do you think it got to where it got to, just on game line-up?

Yeah... umm... yes, mostly on game lineup. And of course, kids have tiny hands. ;)

So only kids had PlayStations?

Somehow I get the feeling that you have the need to argue... Is everything ok at home?

And I see you're going off topic (shelling out pathetic attempts at insults at that) because you lack the argument to continue. So be it.

Dude, don't be butthurt if your favourite controller is too small for me and a lot of people with a bit bigger hands. You are the one who argued that the size of the controller is a sales factor and I agreed. Kids do have smaller hands and PS2 sold a lot to the kids.

does anyone realize that he said 10-15 years? thats a whole lifetime from now, why is everyone making bets and estimates ?

besides its not like this guy can predict the future, you never know what will happen even a year from now let alone 15 years.

Are you capable of debating without throwing out who's "butthurt" or having problems? It's called a discussion, if you aren't capable of having one reasonably, don't post in the forums. Simple.

Now to the relevant piece - I didn't argue the size of the controller was a sales factor, I've argued that the controller was an obvious enough success to warrant it being continued 2 gens further. The controller DOES matter, otherwise if would have been replaced with a better one. In fact, when Sony attempted to alter the design, they were criticized for it, and were and begged and pleaded with to keep the functioning Dualshock design.

Point is, game line-up alone didn't help the brand, the controller had a lot to do with it. Sure, there are things I would like to see fixed a bit (triggers for instance), but the overall Dualshock design works fine for just about any type of game. Plenty of adults have used PlayStations (hence why I don't understand how you think 146 million people are just kids who bought the PS2, or 102 million who bought the PS1).

You are one to speak, you try to create a strawman by twisting my words. Then you take my honest question as "insult" and start insulting me back. Insecure much, eh?

And once again, twisting my words. :D Where did I say that only kids bought PS2? Show me, please. If you are incapable of doing that, you should not "post in the forums".

edit:

And then you stealth edit your post... how pathetic is that.

I insulted you? OK pal.

Nothing was twisted - http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=3760876 "That controller did something right ONLY for people with really tiny hands".

Your words, bud. I was just informing you that 102 million PS1 owners and 146 million PS2 owners can't all just have really tiny hands. In other words, the controller design did something right.

So the problem is with your capability to understand what you read. From my point of view, that is true. It did good only for people with really tiny hands. I can't imagine how small your hand is if you feel that DS is comfortable.

Where did I insult you? You called my question a "pathetic attempt to insult".

Oh and that is where I said that only kids had playstations? Really pal? Really?
