As we found out last month, NPD will no longer be the same again. Over the past few months, the company has been cutting down on the amount of data they have been sharing. And in September, hardware numbers were no longer officially released. On the bright side, we have industry members such as Major Nelson who are willing to reveal some figures. Nelson just tweeted the following regarding October’s Xbox 360 hardware sales in the U.S.:

“NPD Oct numbers: Xbox 360 sold 325k consoles. So far, it is the best selling console in 2010 w/ 3.5 M Year To Date sold”

He doesn't get the difference between "best" and third.

Either that, or his world map goes like this:

Inb4whinning: If he's talking about just the USA he should have told that it is be best selling console so far, just in the USA.

EDIT2: I wonder if the Wii now counts for Microsoft as a console, because I remember they told back in 2007 or 2008  that they didn't considered the Wii a console. Just after trolling motion controls.

in americas they're most likely talking. go 360!

edit: this means either the 360 is undertracked or the wii is overtracked in america by a couple hundred thousand. Im thinking 360 in undertracked but it's probably a little of both.
