Ok, this is what I am doing now: I'm ranking the games according to the story and then according to the gameplay

Best Story:

1 San Andreas

2 Red Dead Redemption

3 Bully

4 Vice City

5 GTA IV

Best Gameplay

1 San Andreas

4 Bully

5 GTA IV

Being those 5 games really good games. I am surprised of how I dislike GTA IV. So I am writting a new ranking:

Best Visual design

1 Red Red Redemption

2 GTA IV

3 San Adreas

4 Vice City

5 Bully

Bully relied so much in the story which I found engaging. The gameplay is grat too. Too bad the ending is a bit... I don't know, I didn't like it.  I haven't being able to finish GTA IV (It is so painful to play) and I don't care how it ends. In San Andreas I NEEDED to know what happened to CJ. Same thing in RDR and Vice City to some extent.

What about you guys? How would you rank the stories of this games?

No way in hell San Andreas has the best story.

THERE IS A JETPACK IN THE GAME!!!!

I though the story for GTA IV was awesome (or maybe the idea of it). But like I said, the open-world thing kills it.

Oh the Jet pack in San Andreas is awesome! Another of the things that made the gameplay great!

So thats a point for gameplay. Not story. Id give you that the beginning of San Andreas is good. He comes back cause of his mother's death and cops black mail him.

Then a bunch of weird shit happens, like horrible rappers, burning down pot plantations, stealing planes from the military (!)

Hmm honestly I don't know much anymore about the stories from GTA 3 - San Andreas...If they were epic I would remember..

I thought RDR had a good story...Especially the last part of the game....I could not stop thinking now the game is over but it wasn't over...

Sure, that is true. But the ending of SA was good.

GTA IV is way too grounded, too real, too serious. No sense of humour at all. John Marston was at least pretty sarcastic. Can anyone tell me how GTA IV ends? I don't mind spoilers. (I may be not finishing it at all... )

Theres basically 2 endings. Highlight the text to read it.

In one, the mob leader kills your cousin. The other, Kate. Both, you go after him and he tries to flee from you. However, it ends with Niko catching up and killing in the Statue of Happiness Island. Its a very pessimistic (some would say realistic :P) ending. There is no redemption, no action that will compensate for all your deeds in the past. Its the same style as Red Dead Redemption. I admire its value, but I dont agree with it.

I'd say RDR has the best story of those games.  It's the most consistent in theme and approach and doesn't feature the huge variations of mood/theme that permeate other Rockstar games that undermine the narrative.

Also, the voice acting for John Marsten and his character is the most engaging I'd say.
