Forums - Sony - 4 million damage? New Disgaea 3 trailer

also, i'd put Suikoden tactics after FF Tactics Advance i believe. Front Mission likely ahead of FF Tactics (haven't played Jeanne D'Arc yet).

Not sure where i'd put the Super Robot Wars series. somwhere bwetween Ogre Battle and Final Fantasy Tactics.

Hogishami Ruining Blue Earth is tough too... I enjoyed it less then disgaia but that might just of been because there was a lot of grinding and the story sucked.

Disgaea is the definition of hardcore-only game. That is why its sales were never so high. Pretty solid game IMO. I just wish Nippon Ichi would come up with new ideas, all their series feels like some sort of Disgaea parallel dimension.

I thought all there series WERE Disgaea Paralel Dimension/other planet. That's the vibe i get from the 4 I own.

You got me. They are all parallel dimensions, there is even cameos and parts where the plot connects.  What I really mean is that the gameplay, character design and plot is too similar in all the games. It feels like the same game in different skin or a rip off of your own series.

I know that there are small differences in the way you create characters, use the battlefield to your advantage and develop your random dungeon. However, I wish they would take more risks with new ideas.

I forgot Front Mission.  I'd put it around the same as the FFT series.

I'm not sure why Disgaea 3 is on the PS3.  From a technical standpoint the game could just as easily have been made on the Gameboy Advance.  I suppose it could have been put there in anticipation of the PS3 picking up the PS2's userbase, but that doesn't really seem like something Nippon Ichi would do.  The sales for the series have always blown.  Meh, to each his own.

Yeah, that is a mystery as to why the PS3 was chosen for this game. The graphics are nothing to be proud off and despite the fact that it looks like a fun game, I dunno what the motivation was. I would have atleast expected a PS2/Wii version as well to ensure sales.

Yeah, but they are just weird people.  They clearly don't make Disgaea for the sales. I doubt a single Disgaea game has ever even broke even given how poorly they sell.  They don't make them to push hardware either obviously.  I'm not sure there is any particular logic behind the decisions they make with the Disgaea series other than "They felt like it."

I disagree; I think they have turned a profit from both Disgaea games. The first was a surprise hit (in relative terms) in North America, and I doubt they would need to sell more than 100,000 units to make a profit. Maybe even less than that; I can't imagine that their game budgets are very large.

Hates Nomura.

It also makes no sense to me why they are producing this game for the PS3. The only reason I can think of is that Sony subsidized their development.

getting high levels in Disgaea games is not that hard. its leveling weapons that can be a bytch.

yea this game could have been put on any console. don't get confused why its on PS3. just take it as a statment that 2d games WILL NEVER DIE no matter the capibilities of the console. What I think would of been smart is to put the game on the PSN as both the D1 and D2 were under 1gig games on PS2.
