Forums - Microsoft - Why Perfect Dark Zero beats Reach, Gears and Black Ops.

Yes, the FPS fanboy wars that risks to break out this season looks to be absurd, but I figure I would jump into Perfect Dark Zero in order to have my own absurity in the mix.  Yes, I know this title gets fragged, BUT, it has ONE feature I don't know any other FPS has at this point or even Third-person shooter, if you want to be THAT picky.  I don't know any other FPS on the 360 which allows me to do four player split screen where all players doing split screen all get to be on the same side and battle bots at games like Capture the Flag, and the other modes.  Even Gears of War 2 is just 2 player split screen.

So, there you go, the first FPS released on the 360 has this one feature I have yet to see any other FPS released since on the 360.  Ok, if anyone knows any, let me know.  As far as I know Unreal Tournament 3 is just two player split screen against pots.

problem 1 is the multiplayer on PDZ is horrible in so many ways. It's downright boring.

halo lets you do four player split screen online multiplayer, just no bots

While I don't agree with your reasoning, PDZ is my favorite shooter on 360. Bots add a lot to the gameplay but I think PDZ is much deeper than any other shooter I've played on 360. The weapon balance was incredible, secondary fire was awesome and the weapons just felt great. The campaign was weak but the multiplayer is awesome.

What the bots enable is all players together to play as a team against a set of bots, so you get to do team work in this.  I would be up to replace it, but have no idea what I can, so I keep it.  It was like, after launch, Microsoft found its niche, and what PDZ offers was moved away from.  Black Ops starts to get closer to it, but it doesn't have the same amount of modes.  Unreal Tournament 3 has modes, but doesn't have 4 player split screen.  Same with Gears 2.

I do want to add here I am NOT saying I think PDZ is the best FPS on the 360, just that this is one feature that causes it to top everything else out there on the 360.  It is like online play rules all on the 360, so they don't feel a need to add stuff.

Yeah... I don't get why splitscreen and bots aren't industry standard.

One of the most frustrating things about FPS is one never seems to have ALL the advances... even advances that came in like... the SNES/PS1 eras.

If a FPS isn't going to have local co-op.

I'll just buy it on PC if I want it...

and I probably won't because Team Fortress 2 destroys everyone when it comes to awsome multiplayer first person shooters.

Online co-op?   Doesn't help me much when i want to play with my girlfriend.

It really should be. I blame RARE for not making more überawsome FPS's and Free Radical for dying...without their games there's no balance in the world of FPS's.

Maybe it's just me, but I find it a lot of fun setting up 2 groups of bots with different loadouts and seeing who prevails.

I do it a lot with TF2 ever since they created bots.

Basically... most heavies win.

I think the belief of guys making FPS is that EVERYONE is going to play over the Internet, so why bother adding bots to the game, because people can find others to play online.  They even got rid of split-screen early on.  They didn't see it led to sales, so they didn't have them.  So, it is the Internet that made these casualties.  I ran into this being an issue when I was staying somewhere and had people over where I was and we were trying to do FPS action, and people weren't skilled.  Having the ability to do 4 player split screen cooperative would of been VERY good.  Thing about people local and split screen is you know these people, and are FAR more likely to be real friends than what you get online.  Unless you met someone in person, hard to count them a real friend, no matter how much Microsoft pushes Live.  In person, you get better quality communications also.  With online play, people think of people on the other side as bots, and not personal.  In real life nowhere near the same level of junk would be said.

I miss bots in games, and Gears of Wars half-assed attempt just doesn't do it for me. Either Halo 4 should come with bots, or Timesplitters 4 needs to be released soon. If possible can we have both? . . .

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.
