BEST GAME EVAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

MGS4 is so fucking good I lost a testicle while playing it.

Uncharted 2 imho comes second as the best ps3 game with GoW3 third. <- Check out both of these if you havent!

The gameplay IS LONG if you play on the normal setting (Solid Normal or w/e) and even longer if you try to be stealthy. You will discover new paths and things to do on your 2nd, 3rd, 4th AND EVEN 5th playthrough. (I would know, ive completed it 12 times).

The online takes LONG time to get into and is NOT friendly. 70% of people will not enjoy it for whatever reasons. I gave it a chance due to my huge addiction to the singleplayer and I started becoming addicted myself.

MGS4 is the best game of my life .....well MGS1 might be better BUT STILL!

If you want a great Online TPS AND a great Single-Player Campaign I'd definitely go with Uncharted 2, its online is one of the best on the PS3 and definitely WAAY better than MGS4 Online. MGS4 online isn't easy either, almost everyone I played with were Pro at the game and it gets boring pretty fast and has a very steep learning curve, plus last time I played it, you had to buy most of the maps just to have fun anyway since you only get to play a few of them. Uncharted 2 is also probably the best PS3 game anyway, after MGS4 (Story-Wise) of course!

Metal Gear Solid 4  <------ Best Game Ever Made.

Absolutely fantastic game.  I will admit I probably like Uncharted 2 a tiny bit better, and of course, Bioshock (my favorite game this gen), but MGS4 is definitely my third favorite game on PS3.

But I certainly recommend watching all of the cut scenes, at least the first time through.  They are just so freaking good; better directed and acted than most movies out there... seriously.  I mean the debut of the "Beauty and the Beast" corps and the cut scene at the end of act 3 are two of the best moments in all of gaming, ever.  Those who have played it know exactly what I'm talking about.  Just be warned; some of them are very long, so break out the popcorn and enjoy.

I played Metal Gear Solid for the PSX when it was released, back in the late nineties. I still consider it one of the best gaming experiences I ever had.

Nowadays it is quite common, but back in the day, it was the first game that took a cinematic approach with a hell of a story and did it right. That's why it is so special in my heart.

But then I skipped the PS2/GC/XBOX generation and as a comsequence I missed MGS 2 and 3.

I don't know how, I don't know when, but I am not planning on playing MGS4 if I haven't played the previous games before. I think the OP should do the same.

I just hope the rumours of a Metal Gear Solid collection becoming available in the PS3 are true and I will be a happy gamer.
