"In addition, last month Apple reported that it was selling 270,000 iPhones per day and Google 200,000 Android handsets."
I thought Android was roundly outselling the iPhone these days?

Apple had a couple really good months due to iPhone 4's release.

"If something is written in Internetz, it must be true"
You see, those numbers are just twisted. At one point, Google said they had roughly 200K activations for Android per that day. Then, LATER, St.Jobs was boasting how they now do more than this, and it was rubbed in the same quarter as iPhone 4 was released, lol.
So, first those numbers can't be compared because they are from different periods. Second, iPhone sales are boosted every summer due to their schedule of releasing new iPhones, and then remain rather flat over the year. While other vendors sales are (usually) growing throughout the year. So, "per day" numbers could be more favorable for Apple in "the beginning" of their cycle after the boost, but in a long term they still may lost to Android, by simple math.
P.S. Steve definitely knows how (and when) to present things to the best advantage ever ;) and US media just follows him as a God because doing this grants them CLICKS and VIEWS.
