Blizzard: New MMO In Development

In response to a post on the official World of Warcraft forums asking about Blizzard's recent job listing seeking a "Lead 3D Character Artist - Next-Gen MMO," Blizzard Community Representative Drysc confirmed that Blizzard is, in fact, seeking employees to help them work on "an unannounced Next-Gen MMO."

Drysc then specified that this new project was not an expansion for the current World of Warcraft universe, leading many in the thread to speculate that the project could be anything from the oft-whispered-about Starcraft MMO to a persistent world based on The Lost Vikings or Blackthorne.

After contacting Blizzard for further information on the title and receiving Blizzard's customary stoic, PR-backed silence, we're left with nothing to do but wait for more information on the title (and pray to our respective deities that it's not an MMO based on Blizzard's 1992 hit Dvorak On Typing).

I hope it's something to do with the Diablo world, I'm sick of Warcraft (Avid Warhammer follower).

I just prefer the Diablo universe in every possible way to Warcraft =| If it is something to do with Diablo, here's hoping they don't bugger it up.

I'm pretty sure it means next gen for PCs. As in their next-gen MMO after WoW.

Starcraft?

I kind of doubt they would be working on Startcraft 2 and Starcraft MMO at the same time.

I dunno, didn't Warcraft 3 come out pretty close to World of Warcraft?

 Being an avid WoW Player, I've known about Blizz's new MMO for a long time (they've hinted at it, but not directly stated it), and it's quite clear it will be PC only. 

Yes, they developed them in parallel.  I think World of Starcraft is more likely than World of Diablo.  They'll use it combined with SC2 to springboard sales.  World of Diablo would be too similar to World of Warcraft. 

Also, darthdevidem they mean PCs.  Blizzards only console projects have been toss-aside ports of their PC games and they have outsourced them all. 

 Just an idea.  Diablo or a new IP is more likely.
