I prefer Fable 2 which is the best in the series , IMO , although Fable 3 is quite good (and has extremely big areas ).

In several ways, yes, Fable is better than Fable III, but Fable III does have some aspects that I think are much improved, like the global map, and the ability to overview look. I also like combat in Fable III better. I REALLY dislike the inventory controls and the expression menus...they TOTALLY broke it!
