"Stringer today said the company sells about 200,000 PlayStation 3 consoles in Europe each week, and 40,000 to 50,000 in Japan. It also sold more than 200,000 in the U.S. following ``Black Friday,'' the day after Thanksgiving."

Anyway promising figures, even if just newly sold units to retail.

Black Friday was on the 24th of November right? If so VGChartz estimated sales to end users in Americas (US + Canada + Mexico + Others, South and Middle America) 45K lower than this quote.

In relation to Europe, VGChartz also seems to track lower as VGChartz includes other data than just Europe such as South Africa, Australia, Middle East, etc.

Vgchartz doesn't agree, pretty soon we'll know if NPD does.

Of course, he could be talking about sold-to-retailers, which would make sense since they're probably stuffing the retail channel for the holidays.

Hmmm, keeping my eyes on the sales report. It could be true depending on how Sony calculates their figures from "when till then". Its depends on what they look upon as a sales term/period.

If true (and doubt Stringer is just lying ) then it is very very good news for the PS3 .Vgchartz would be somewhat off although not by a massive number .

Also from the article:

"Chief Financial Officer Nobuyuki Oneda said Oct. 25 that the company may miss its target to sell 11 million of the consoles during the year ending March 31."

Sad news for Sony if their CFO is correct.
