Forums - Gaming Discussion - What company will the gaming world be better without?

Sony is one of, if not the most important company in the history of gaming.

However, because of the direction they are pushing the market in currently I believe the industry would be best without them at the moment.

I would say that it is a close competition between Microsoft and Sony in my opinion ...

In my opinion Sony is a far better Gaming company but Microsoft has managed their console far better. I know people will debate my opinions so I better clairify; in any given year Sony produces a couple of good games in pretty much each genre whereas Microsoft only has a few good games that are usually in similar genres; and the uniformity of how everything works on the XBox is very impressive ... it doesn't matter who developed a game because all of the same services are still available in it.

I think Nintendo is out of the consideration because they push the industry more than Sony or Microsoft in ways that no other company is willing to push.

None. They should all stay. Consumers almost always benefit when there is increased competition. Reduced competition leads to less variety and choice for the consumers. Without competition, companies get sluggish and make less of an effort to progress.

Sony.

They seems to be more interested in bashing the competition then making games. They also love to rip off everyone else. While Microsoft has expanded the online component, and Nintendo advancing Gameplay, Sony just rips off the other two, and tries to hold a monopoly on the industry. I feel with just Microsoft and Nintendo, they will create healthy compation and allow consumers a chose in what they want inthey're system. Also helps developers, expecially up and comers, as the systems are eaiser to develop for and they wont have to make 3 versions of a game, and can focus on making two good ones.

Nintendo should go. Althouhg they provide innovation, in my opinion it is similar to a £180 Eye Toy, if offers innovation, but people will get tired of it. Sony should stay for producing brilliant games, how could we live without God of War. Microsoft can stay because they have revolutionised the online part of gaming, although in the future Sony will show them how to perfect it.

You know "Everybodys Golf 3" has sold more than "God of War" and both are made on the PS2 right?

Edit: lol, I'm horrible I can't stay on my own subject.

None should go, none should go, none should go.  The gaming world would not be better without.  It's competition that fuels each company to do what they do and make what they make.  Think about it.  If there was only one company making games for everyone, what would be their motivation?  They would already have the majority sales and wouldn't need to improve drastrically to prevent from being knocked down from number one.

It's competition that creates the great games we have today.  Sonic was created because Sega was able to see the potential of having a mascot like Mario. Sonic was created to give Sega the edge. Microsoft has Halo and more, Sony has Metal Gear and more, and Nintendo has Mario and more.  If one company weren't here we would be missing something very special from whatever that company produced.

It' ironic because Sony was basically created because Nintendo rejected them. In trying to make Sony disappear they created a great video game competition. The only good I see in getting rid of a company is a new better one being created to up the other competition.

Some people may not like what each repective company is bringing to the table as their selling point, but whatever it may be, it can only move video games foward.  All those flaws you have with the company you don't like are what makes them unique and what the other people may want. The gaming world is so great right NOW because of those companies. None should go.

So i am the first who says microsoft... reason for that is that i believe their idea of gaming is a different one than mine, and even worse is that gaming is probably only a gimmick for them because they want access to the living room.

but for me it is no problem that the x360 exists, as long as the wii sells enough units to ensure a good third party support.

Well nintendo should not go for trying to revolutionize gaming WITHOUT leaving the past behind. They were the start of gaming and i dont think intuitive systems (DS and Wii) that are affordable and fun for everyone should be a reason to vote them out. (although i know some stupid simpleton fanboy afraid of change will argue it)

Sony, well, they should be given a second chance, plus i rather see microsoft get out.

Microsoft should be gone. they are way out of their leage in the gaming world. They have no sense in timing for when to release a console or system, their system gets almost no good-decent games and basically only have halo, which is for computers. Their online system might be "great" (im currently not into online gaming so i really cant say a whole lot of this subject.. i have dialup...) but from what i heard sonys is also pretty good, and cheap. (cheap being FREE)  i do not like the idea of paying for online gaming, and microsoft has started that, as well as starting a console that is and will likly always be out of their leage, so it should be the console crucified.

A delayed game is good someday, a bad game is bad forever.

As robjoh pointed  the competition is always the best option. If I have to choose someone anyway I would say Microsoft - PS3 offers everything what X360 do and much more. Nintendo and Wii? Lets give some fun to girls and children too

No, I didn't, but one of the main reasons that it is an 18, and unlike GTA, it is actually really violent, however, anyone who actually played the game will know that it is amazing.

Definitely Microsoft.  Â
