Forums - Microsoft - Kinect TV mount

I have the TV mount.  It's pretty good quality construction and I think it looks better than the wall mount.  It was an easy 5 minute setup because my TV already had the mounting screws in the slots so I just had to loosen and retighten them. I do agree that the wall mount would give it an extra foot or 2 of distance, though.  I'm barely outside of the "great" range so 2 players in my apartment might not work very well, but for 1 player it has been a flawless and very enjoyable experience!  The wall mount is about half the price of the TV mount, too, so if you can wall mount it and it will give you some extra space (if you need it) I say go for that.

I'm overall very pleased with the TV mount and the Kinect sensor as I have it setup.

Good to hear, I'll be picking up the TV mount today or tomorrow then.  Thanks!

May need to get this myself. I would hate to have it in front of the TV at the bottom because of my small surround sound central speaker sits there.

I was just gonna use some velcro tape and put mine on top of my TV. I don't have the sensor yet though so I have a question to those that have it. Do you think that the weight/amount of movement is enough to foil my velcro tape solution? I was initially thinking about a wall mount but realized that I'd be gaining little to no extra space because my tv is already on the wall. I really like the mount that Nightsurge has going on in those pics and I'd probably take that route if the velcro tape is a no-go.

I also think that the wall mount may cause problems being able to clear the tv itself if positioned in line right above the tv. Of course raising it would probably correct that but would that then introduce the problem of the sensor not being able to "see" down by your feet?

Edit: Upon further thought the tv mount and wall mount will give me the same thing so if my velcro thing doesn't work then I'll either construct a mount or buy the wall mount......lol.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

The Kinect has some weight to it and the head moving could cause some trouble.

I got the TV mount and it works but it is sooooooooooo flimsy.  I don't know if I set it up wrong or my TV's mounting screws are in a funny spot but it isn't on there tight at all.  I can touch it and it moves and the only thing that is actually keeping it on is the front hook by the Kinect.

Still though, my Kinect stays in plays and it works so I guess I can't complain much, I just didn't expect cheap flimsy plastic.

What do you mean about the mounting screws?

I wonder if it just isn't grasping your TV very well.  Yes it is plastic, but mine is holding so snug that if I try to move the mount it moves the whole TV.

Does this really help add a foot or so of play space? If so I really will have to look into getting one. I can play 2 players at a time but I only have about a lil over 6 ft. If this gives me almost 7 to 8 ft by having the height and stuff and allows for better movement trackign than I will SO be getting this.

How our favorite systems are just like humans and sometimes have issues finding their special someone...

Xbox 360 wants to KinectPS3 wants to Move!  Why are both systems having such relationship problems?  The reason is they both become so infactuated with desire while watching the Wii as it waggles on by. They simply want what they can't have.

The wall mount does, not the TV mount. Unless your HDTV is mounted on the wall. If your TV is on a cabinet or entertainment center, that means it's probably a good 1-2 feet or more away from the wall, so by mounting the sensor on the wall, you now have an extra 1-2 feet (or more) playing distance, which could be the make or break distance depending on how large your playing area is.

Is this an official mount?  I want one of these very badly.. much better set up.

Yup, that's the official Kinect TV mount

My TV is a 46inch and the 4 bolts on the back are quite wide apart and the bottom 2 are low down... presumably the arms on the tv mount lengthen and the angle of seperation can be increased to suit?

Yup they can be adjusted for different lengths and angles.  I'm not sure what the max angle/reach is though.  My TV is a 47" and had no problem as you can see from the pics, but I was close to the max leg length.

I am thinking of just getting a wall mount at Ikea, it could be a lot cheaper you know...
