Forums - Gaming - What happened to SSX ?

It was a great franchise, a lot of people I know played and loved it, so I guess it sold at least quite well in those days, and also it got very good scores from reveiws. Honestly I've only tried it (a long time ago), never actually played it... I remeber I was planning to get SSX On Tour (on Ps2 or GC), but, for some reason I don't remeber, I've just skipped it. Than today, I realised (randomly) that there isn't recent sequel, except for the failed attempt to bring it on Wii (SSX-Blur) which, by the way, was more than 3 years ago. So I wonder: Is there a sequel in planning, I don't know about, or the franchise is simply dormant?

PS. I'm considering to buy it....which is better, the more recent SSX on tour or the older SSX3?

Get SSX3. And I'd like to know too what happened to the franchise.

I love that franchise. There were rumors that Criteron was working on a new SSX but it's been a while now.

Personally  I think it took a serious hit with Blur. It moved away from being an arcade game over the top fun snow boarding. To a game that tried to be more realistic with some over the top elements. So when Blur snagged I think EA just sorta overlooked further development.

I think you should go for SSX3.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

SSX Tricky was amazing but then they went to more of an open world HUB type thing and that kind of ruined the series.  It just started quickly going downhill from there.

Of course doesn't matter to me too much since I can still play SSX Tricky on my Wii or PS3. ^^

Yeah, SSX Tricky was one of my favourite PS2 games ever, it was amazing, Brody was by far the best character with his uber costume/board.

EA please make a sequel to SSX Tricky.

Blasphemy!  Kaori was the best, I could be standing still and do backflips.

Play SSX3. I'd wish it came to this gen already, was one of my utmost fav games of last gen. Don't forget that it came off of the THPS/Dave Mirra BMX game era, in which all extreme sports had their own games. If SSX came to next gen, im scared they'd have to pull a 'skate' and not just leave it in the old big air, pure fun fashion.

All of this, of course, is just my opinion.

Skyrim 100%'d. Dark Souls 100%'d.
Dark Souls > Skyrim.
Halo 4 is the best damn FPS since Halo 3.
Proud pre-orderer of 2 PS4's and an Xbox One.

Currently Playing: Dark Souls II, South Park
Playstation 4: MGS V GZ, Killzone: Shadow Fall, NBA 2k14.

So there are no info about a sequel in development...too bad. So I'll get SSX3 on ebay asap.

@Boutros

For one who haven't really played the game like me, a Criterion sequel sounds good, looks like they revived Hot Pursuit instead.

Thanks for helping.

I hope they come out with another SSX this gen. It would be 10 times better now since we can play other people online. But they shouldn't bring out just any SSX... They should bring out SSX Tricky 2 =D

Playstation All-Stars is one of the best games I've played this gen, and is the most fun I've had in a game this gen.
