Am I the only one that is really enjoying Kotaku's reviews BECAUSE they don't have a score?

whats crazy to me, is games like this on Wii usually get bad reviews. So is the tech really that good??? probably, with good reviews and good sales. Ninty AND Sony are in a bit of trouble.

What good reviews are you looking at? I see mostly poor to decent at best reviews, with the exception of Dance Central and Kinect Sports. I see a lot of afterthought third party Wii-esque games that wouldn't sell on the Wii, let alone the Xbox 360.

MS is falling for the casual fallacy with this addon and they may be the ones in a bit of trouble if they really think this thing will be what carries the 360 forward.

This is extremely hypocritical coming from a Wii fan.  These scores are right in line with typical scores Wii games get.

Of the Wii launch titles only 3 have a metacritic over 80:

Trauma Center:Second Opinion - 80

Madden 07 - 81

and Legend of Zelda : Twilight Princess - 95.  However it was actually originally developed for the Game Cube.

Wii Sports has a metacritic of 76.

The Kinect games are getting very decent reviews.

Did you just compre the Wii lineup to the KINECT launch lineup? BAHAHAHAHA

Hmm, so basically what I expected; good reviews for Dance Central, mediocre for everything else. Far too many shady  "birdmen" games. Kinect needs more games like Dance Central and Children of Eden that actually look like they have some effort put in and aren't trying to be crappy Wii third party knockoffs.

Really? A month ago I seem to remember you saying:

Hmm funny, now why wouldn't MS want people to get there hands on this device as soon as possible and spread their impressions? What do they have to hide?

This is just classic MS.. *Wiggles fingers. "Go buy our mediocre product everyone! Don't pay attention to the accounts of lag, or the fact that you cannot play while sitting. Don't pay attention to the fact that it only recognizes two people at a time or that you may need to change your clothes to brighter colors. Don't worry about the fact that it will cost you $300 for an Xbox 360 and another $150 for Kinect, that currently supports 17 games that all look like they are mini games from Mario Party yet cost $60 each."

I don't see what more proof people need that this thing is going to suck, big time. It is all typical smoke and mirrors from MS. Sure it will sell like mad for a couple of months from the sheer novelty of 3D motion controller-less gaming, but expect the sales of this thing to plummet after people realized they were duped into buying an overhyped Eye Toy 2.0 with a bunch of games equivilant to Wii 3rd party shovelware. Seriously, if people think there was a major hardcore bashlash against Nintendo for the Wii, they haven't seen nothin yet. Now the Move may be a shameless Wiimote ripoff but at least Sony is supporting some games for it that aren't an insult to gamers' intelligence.

I particularly love how "At least Sony is supporting some games for it that aren't an insult to gamers' intelligence" and "I don't see what more proof people need that this thing is going to suck, big time" translates to "I knew Dance Central would be a good game." Please stop talking out of both sides of your mouth and pretending like you've given Kinect or its software a fair shake when you clearly haven't.

What's next in this revisionist history you've concocted? I suppose all of us just imagined that the Titanic actually sunk, right?

Yikes, stalker much? Thanks for digging out my 3 week old post. Guess I touched a nerve. I don't really see how that contradicts what I said. I always thought Dance Central looked like a decent game because I trust Harmonix could do a good job, but ONE good looking game out of 17 isn't saying very much. I just can't believe how many people blindly defend this mediocre launch lineup of mostly $60 games, for a piece of hardware that ign says has noticeable lag. If this were Nintendo, people would be ready to crucify them..

Yes.  Which Wii launch titles stood out to you?  Besides Zelda which was Game Cube port.

Oh ok, the Wii LAUNCH titles, I guess that makes a little more sense. Still an unfair comparison though. The Wii launch lineup at least had Nintendo's games. Kinect has a bunch of third party Wii knockoffs.

Wii Sports was a quality multiplayer title, I don't care what anyone says. If it wasn't great, it wouldn't be the most successful game of the modern era, and everyone wouldn't be trying to copy it. I also think Trauma Center, Excite Bike, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, and SMB: BB were great games for launch titles.

You really crack me up. How dare I dig up a three week old post and use your exact words against you? What is this, 3rd grade? I apologize for having the mental capacity to call you on your self-contradictions.

By the way, I'm waiting for you to tell me how you always thought Dance Central looked like a decent game, when you said, and I quote again "At least Sony are support some games for [Move] that aren't an insult to gamers' intelligence." So Dance Central is good, but insults our intelligence at the same time? Do explain, and your argument better amount to something more than trying to paint me as angry or a "stalker" for having the audacity to hold you to your own words. What are you hiding from Metallicube? Upset that everyone doesn't hate Kinect like you do?

You mean Excite Truck. :P

But I have to partly agree with you here.  The Kinect Launch games are very... uninspired to say the least.

Except for Dance Central and Dance Masters, there isn't much that I think really showcases Kinect's advantage or difference over the other Motion experiences currently on the market.  In fact many of those games are getting decent to good reviews for the sole fact that they actually "work", or at least, that is the vibe I get from reading most of them reviews.  Had those games been released on the other 2 consoles, they would have been trashed for being shallow gaming experiences.  But since they're launch games for an overly hyped peripherals, many of these games get a free pass.

That's how I see it, at least as far as the games are concerned.  I still think Kinect is a very good experiment, and the non-gaming features it offers are precursors to actual implementations of the tech (or very similar ones) inside our very TVs (and maybe other household electronic products) in a very near future.

Hey look, I found another great post from Metallicube showing his love for Dance Central:

OH NOES! You mean I won't be able to play the amazing Dance Central on my Wii!? How will I cope?? Oh well..

*goes back to playing NSMB Wii

I don't know about you guys, but I go and post off-topic drivel in threads for games I think will be good all the time.

Yeeah, please show me in my post where I said  "Dance Central will suck?" Out of 17 games, it looked like the only good one, and I stand by those words. Hell, chances are out of 17 games, at least one SHOULD be good, law of averages and all that..

But really, it still looks like a more sophisticated version of Just Dance. As I said, Kinect needs more games like Children of Eden, that not only look like some effort was actually put in, but actually do their own thing, and aren't just trying to be B rate Wii knock off games. The fact that they are trying to sell these games at 60 bucks boggles my mind.. I mean, they were going to GIVE AWAY Joy Ride FOR FREE, before turning it into a $60 Kinect game. That doesn't concern anyone else?

Look, if people like you are upset that I am speaking my mind, so be it, but I'm not going to sugarcoat something when it looks bad to me. If you said the Wii games are garbage for instance, I may not agree, but I'd at least respect your opinion as long as it was backed up. What I said is my opinion, if it bothers you, tough.

2 things, most of the big launch titles are from Microsoft, they're not 3rd party, however there is a lot of shovelware coming from 3rd parties, I'll admit.  However the same was true for the Wii and most of the shovelware is due to the short turn around time from when dev kits were sent out.

Second Wii Sports is the most successful games (I assume you mean sales here) because it came packed with almost every Wii sold.

I traded in my Wii as part of getting Kinect and I don't regret it at all.  Kinect Sports gives me everything Wii Sports did and more.  I find it a better game all around.
