here is a similar comparison.
two cars.. both get you from A to B, infact they are extremely similar, 4 wheels, two doors, a steering wheel, use the same fuel and have the same purpose.

The car below is not in any way different to the upper one. Its just up to today tech and design. Your example is perfect.

I agree totally, one car is garbage... the other isn't... and there is actually only a few years between them too.

So you're saying the PS2 EyeToy was garbage and Kinect is perfect? I agree this thread is probably undeeded, but you're showing plenty of bias yourself there.
Like it or not the EyeToy is a clear predecessor for Kinect and a lot of the gaming concepts its trying to support. And at this point, pre-release and with a review embargo I think we can't yet assume it's a perfect success.
On Topic a bit more - of course there's a lot of superficial similarities, both devices are trying to deliver similar experiences and they have some common features and capabilities, particularly around using your movements and voice as inputs.
Kinect is for sure overall more advanced in terms of the skeletal tracking, etc. - but as of this point only a few titles seem to hint at the difference that will bring to the actual gameplay so it's early days to say if it's really going to add anything new to gaming that much beyond the EyeToy (and similar devices on PC and the like).
Seriously, these forums are becoming a real den of bitterness at the moment.
