Because I highly doubt they can justify the discrepancy between actual vgchartz numbers and the (partial) ones from other trackers. If I was more distrustful I would think that the EMEAA playstation numbers have been increased to reflect sony shipment data and that's it.

Besides even if those countries are responsible for these numbers it make to me no sense to track something on which you have no sample (because I don't think there is some shop in those countries that sends data to vgchartz). So it would be more honest to simply track Europe. Or at least let's separate real Europe from other countries. It's not like EU it's a small market, and this way a reader could understand data better, and he will know which numbers have basis and which one are more "bogus".


I don't have a full list on hand but it's more than a dozen and there have been scattered reports of several smaller regions seeing fast and exponential growth in a relatively short period. India for example. The PS3 install base there is very small, a mere 75k as of June. But in the space of 9 months Sony is projecting that that will almost double to 140k. Another example would be Latin America, the SW market has absolutely exploded down there. Most games are lucky to sell 10k in the region, but PES 2010 sold a monstrous 600k and God of War 3 sold over 50k in Brazil alone. And take a look at this:

PS3 makes up half of the software economy in the Middle East. And Sony recently stated that they would start localizing their games in Arabic.

In Poland  Sony sold 400k PS3 and 1,5 miilion ps2. Nintendo sold 30k wii max.

Kinect is going to change the tide I think. I give it to sony, closing up the gap. The gap I think is going to grow again due to kinect. The new numbers show the gap at 3.9 million.

I also think kinect can open the door to japan, that is a market that needs to be tapped buy MS.

That extra 20,000 sony and wii get is small but Big in the end. 2,000 that MS gets is not helping and needs to start a new trend.

the 360 slim was a complete failure in Japan, it boosted hardware sales for basically one week

what makes you think Kinect will do any different?

 

look at the PS3 Slim in Japan, it boosted PS3 hardware to 150k when it first released (albeit with a price cut), and it permanently boosted the PS3 hardware baseline to around 20k per week, where it outsells the Wii almost every week now.....

 

Kinect will fail in Japan

its all fine and dandy when PS3 wasn't selling more and getting trolled now its the other way around you guys are acting like your the ones that have been puting up with all the PS3 trolling all these time?

Just read the comments on sales after 10 days of sales...

Most of the trolling was done by PS3 fans. I found only one comment made by insecure ninty-fan which some could consider trolling... not me, but some. Of course the article could have been moderated but comments like these make me think it is not moderated:

 

"Haha, you don't honestly think that Kinect will sell more units than the Move?
This unprecise kick in the a** in not worth 150 bugs at all."

"LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am loving how the Wiitards are just coming on and saying how the sale numbers are not that impressive, and how the console bundle is not selling.
