sony just released their finacial statement saying they have shipped 41.6 million PS3s vs 44.5 million xbox 360s. the gap shrank from 3.5 to 2.9 million in the last quarter.

i think most likely by march 2011 Ps3 will overtake xbox 360.

March? no too early, Kinect would have to totally fail for that. If it's going to happen it'll be the xmas Q next year.

I got no freakin idea, but i think at this point it doesn't matter anymore ps3 has survived the beating it got on early release.

The gap between both HD console won't be big enough to warrant the 3rd party developers to ditch either PS3 or 360, may it be Ps3 end up having more sales or 360.

I find it funny at the use of shipped numbers by people on these boards whenever it's convenient for their console.

Well retailers wont buy a system if there isnt demand so imho its not that bad of a choice of data to use. Sold isnt bad either its just not 100% accurate.

it is the more precise to use the shipped cause our numbers don't account for many parts of the world ,,,,it just guesses it .

so company shipped figures are much more concerete to go by.

last quarter the excuse was PS3 overships(then it was adjusted recently) NOW what?

overship again? point is these official numbers by Sony,MS and ninty are what sites like VGC base their estimates on.

Look @ psp 7m difference from this site and Sony's numbers......how do you explain that? sony bought 7m psp them selves?

and don't hate the haters too much, me personally, I think it's a case of being 500k undertracked, Move bundles, being out of stock for first 6 months of year, and Sony shipping to more countrys than MS. It'll be interesting to see next Q. Logically they shouldn't top last xmas Q, because it had 3 full months of new slim and price cut, it shouldn't have same impact this Q, and GT5 can't match that. But then, nothing surprises me anymore.
