Actually no. Nintendo made more profit this quarter than Sony's Network division (250m vs 84m) . They just made pretty big loss during Q1 because they put all exchange losses of 2010 fiscal yeat at Q1 and that's the reason why their half year fiscal report is in the red. (For some reason Nintendo reported half year results instead of Q2 like Sony and MS)
wait, wat da fuck just happened, I go to sleep then wake up and gap is less than 3 million, how da hell.......ok this need some epic LOLZ:

and to top it all off
one word.......BOOM
side note, this does not bode well for VGC reliability :(

I mean they sold 6 million profitable consoles and had good software sales as well. With the money earned with Vaio, the gaming stuff is probably running even or make a small loss. Vaio sales were strong in the last Q. Doubt it suddenly stopped for the next 3 months. Xbox 360 sold 2.8 million and had loss-makers like Zune, WinMo and surface in that division, still they made a profit of almost 400 million. Serious question. Anyway gratz Sony. |
I would guess it's got a lot to do with exchange rates given the relative strengths of the dollar and yen. Also, I would guess that Sony has more expenses for upcoming games releases for their internal studios.

So they say this is the 4th quarter that the games division has been profitable? So it must be the Vaio that's caused some problems in the NPS division.
"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY." --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
