Wouldn't revenue on consoles be expected to rise more than units? Last year they were selling Arcades at $199 and Elites at $299, while this year there is only a $299 model, or am I wrong on this, or missing something?

yeah, you are wrong.

Oh right, there's a 4GB replacement.

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

LoL at 7 billion USD profit in 3 months.

That is almost 80 million a day. That is freaking insane.

Xbox 360 saw a nice boost and was the best selling console in the past 3 months in the US. Being up 50% and posting a almost 400 million USD profit is very nice.

That IS insane! o.O

Thank you for your agree.

@ Demotruck prices did not change at all. still $199 for the 4GB SKU and $299 for the 250 GB SKU. Soon $299 for 4GB Kinect and $399 for 250GB Kinect.

The intersting part:

For FY11Q2 expected revenue growth: 30%!
For FY11 expected revenue growth about 25%!

So this tells us two things:

1. MS has no plans to cut price and expects Windows phone 7 series and Kinect to generate healthy revenue
2. MS will cut the price and expects Kinect and Windows Phone 7 series to sell like hotcakes.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

NVM, dumb post.

Very positives numbers for division... Reach and Slim made the difference this quarter.

Any 360 raw number?

http://www.vg247.com/2010/10/28/microsoft-posts-16-2-billion-in-revenue-for-q1-fy11/

Microsoft today announced record first-quarter revenue of $16.2 billion for the quarter ending  September 30, which is 25 percent increase over the same period in 2009.

Net income came in at $5.4 billion which is an increase of 59 percent over 2009, with the Entertainment and Devices Division (includes Xbox 360) reporting revenue of $1.8 million for the quarter compared to $1.4 million the year prior.

During the quarter, Microsoft saw year-over-year growth across all business segments, with Xbox 360 consoles sales up 38 percent and outselling “every console in the US for each of the past four months“.

“This was an exceptional quarter, combining solid enterprise growth and continued strong consumer demand for Office 2010, Windows 7, and Xbox 360 consoles and games,” said Peter Klein, chief financial officer at Microsoft.

“Our ability to grow revenue while continuing to control costs allowed us to deliver another quarter of year-over-year margin expansion.”

A live analysis with shareholders will be broadcast at 5:30pm EST today, so we’ll be listening for anything you might be interested in.

around 3 million is an educated guess.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

So no shipments numbers...

VGC posted now 2.9m shipped.

So if by some chance Sony did ship 3 million this quarter, leo-j will be right on both counts...

My prediction was 3 million for PS3 so is possible.

But I predicted 3.5m for 360... 600k off.
