I disagree with the apparent general premise that 'real' music comes from a very talented performer. In reality, a performer is not very important. A performer doesn't make good songs. A composer does.

The composition of a song is much, much more important to the quality of the music than any other stuff people (even you guys who think your music or your artists are the 'real' ones)  like to associate with music, like lyrics, song's video, artist's image, etc.. Somehow, the absurd majority of people have forgotten that and that's why today there's so much divergence to what makes good music.

Along these lines, I find performers to be way too overrated. When you see an invention, who do you credit? The guy who replicated it, or the guy who invented it? When you read a poem, who do you give credit to? The writer of the book you're reading that happens to have the poem in there for some reason, or the actual poet who first came up with it?

Therefore, I believe YOU guys bitching about 'real' music being gone should shut up if you don't know what you're talking about. Performance is a way of showing musical talent but certainly not the only way. Composition is far more important. If artists tweak their voice a little to make the song sound better, then why shouldn't they? It's about the sound. They're not any less talented musicians. Sure, they're not as good performers, but if they are in fact the writers of the music, and if the music is of good quality, then they deserve all credit.

That being said, I dislike the genres of music that exist now, but that's my own personal taste. Some of the newer music is of worse quality, but truly, bad music has always existed and will continue to exist.
