Talk about masturbating and such is just a way to deflect attention away from what the debate is all about. I'd suggest ignoring silly arguements like that.

Everyone of us began our life at conception. That is how life is made, plain and simple. That's where it all begins. Ending that life and process in 99% of all cases is unethical.

Talk about fatherless children is another way to deflect attention away from the question of the ethics of aborting a fetus/child. I've known plenty of people who turned out great without knowing their father, or even their mother. I've known people born into poverty who have led happy and productive lives. I've met people born with deformities and sicknesses who have more guts in their little toe than I have in the whole of my being. They have a right to life as much as any kid who comes from an "ideal" family or situation. A kid born in a ghetto has as much dignity and a right to life as some kid born in Beverly Hills. What about the whole of Africa? There is a lot of despair and deplorable living conditions there. Since abortion is the "ethical" and "sensible" thing to do if a person won't have an ideal life, should we just go and abort all of their babies if their quality of life doesn't meet the standard?

It's pretty ridiculous that many of the same people who cheer for abortion are the same ones who will knock your lights out if you support hunting, animal testing, wear leather/fur, or destroy a tree(not that I necessarily am "for" any of that). At the same time, many abortion protestors, though obviously not all of them, are calling for the death of any person who commits a murder. A murderer is a far cry from a faultless and innocent fetus/child, but protecting life, not the destruction of it, should be the goal of all people

And I've saw some people here raise the question about why dont these abortion protestors do something about children and mothers in dire situations after birth. Obviously, not all of them do, but many of them do work to help children and mothers who are in need of help. There are many charity groups specifically for mothers in need of assistance, or mothers who, for whatever reason, will not keep their babies but will not take the baby's right to life. The organization that my church supports the most is in fact a center for women who carry their babies to birth and may or may not decide to keep them or give them up to adotion.

And just so we're clear about what we are discussing. Clicking the link below will show a video of an abortion. If you've got a weak stomach, I'd suggest not clicking it. But what am I saying? This is, after all, a legitamite medical procedure, yeah?
