Forums - General - Is there are starved for attention motive behind some posts in off-topic?

Not really. Its good to talk to other gamers about other things that dont involve gaming and thats what this section is for.

Its nice in a while to have a heated debate about religion and see why some people are religoius. We are all gamers here so i assume we will be like minded to some extent.

I have to disagree and agree.

For the most part I think most of the posters on the off topic boards are just expressing their views and talking about current events. I myself have been involved in many great threads that talk about current events even politics.

However I do agree their are attention hogs out there. When someone creates a thread with the soul intent of creating a flame war. That is an attention hog threads like for example "Belief in God produces hell on earth" or other threads that say something like "All athiests are idiots, or all muslims are terrorists" or "You'd have to be insain to believe (Fill in which ever belief). These threads are shameful and total attention hogs, they want to stir up trouble by insulting other peoples beliefs.

So in the end I think on the off topic board their are some total BS threads thats only goal is to create a flame war or insight hatred, then theirs the decent threads that try to create debates or inform us on global situations.

I don't really see how its thread-worthy to call out another user here. If someone's threads annoy you, then you can just ignore them. Its not hard to do.

its better than watching the telly

but i don't get why some people get annoyed at what other people do,

each to their own,i like the interwbberz

Me, I just find debating fun, and basically can't end a debate until I've either

A) Convinced someone

B) They've convinced me.

C) They've stopped argueign

D) Have kept reverting to the same arguement.

I'll almost always have something to say about further about something because i'm well read and like to post statistical evidence.

Because hearing other peoples informed well thought out posts is both interesting and if you're willing can teach you new stuff every day.

I certainly think many things I read on the internet have helped shape my viewpoint on numerous subjects and the people here in general are pretty well informed and logical in their approach to the serious questions about life the universe and everything.

Plus you get to have awesome debates.
