Forums - Sony - SOCOM 4 to include SOCOM II HD for FREE!?!?

I still regard Socom II as the best online game I have ever played. Although it would be nice for Zipper to bundle it with Socom 4 or even just have all the maps and modes from Socom II in Socom 4's online play, I highly doubt it will happen. I hope they at least bring back some of the great maps from Socom II, PMN mines, and user created ranked rooms. I actually wouldn't mind the maps from Socom Confrontation either. If theres one thing Slant Six did good with Socom Confrontation is they made good maps including the Socom II maps. Hopefully Zipper can port their maps to Socom 4 except without the bugs and glitches. Did they say anything about old maps being in Socom 4? I haven't been really following Zipper's podcasts. Bring back The Ruins and more demo med from Socom II!

True, Socom 4 looks nothing like Socom, but you never know, you might like it. It could be shit, or it could be miles better than SOCOM 2. Yeah, it's different. That doesn't mean it'll be bad. Change could be good. Wait till release before judging it.

I know I'll be getting it. It'll most likely be the closest thing to SOCOM this gen.

you could very well be right.  however I'm judging it off what I seen, and what I've heard from zippers podcast and also their dev interviews seth luisi has given. I will say this with absolute certainty though, It won't be closer to socom then confrontation that has pretty much been confirmed with the art form and cover system. It being better then Socom 2. That's pretty much impossible for me, that is one of my favorite games and my absolute favorite online experiences ever, not saying it can't be a good game though.

OMG ruins... god I almost forgot. I actually am in the minority when I think slant six didn't do a bad job. Compared to what other games are doing they stayed pretty sure to the Socom feel. Their major downfall was lack of support, the refusal to make User created ranked rooms, lack of maps, their were triple the maps on S2, and it's unexplainable changes they would make that the community didn't ask for ( making demo plants mean nothing was just one of the many). With all that I still think Socom confrontation is better then S3 and CA.

Fair enough, I'll be hopping for the best though.

I still remember every S2 map and every detail about them. S2 was almost perfect yet each Socom zipper makes they want to distant it from S2 and I don't know why. The Socom forums the hardcore socom fans have been posting for years why Socom has been sucking and they still continue to ignore them. Doesn't Zipper realize we don't want Call of Duty: Socom? I read regen health might be in multiplayer and  user created rank rooms has still yet to be confirmed? the people who want these features play Call of Duty not Socom. I can only hope Socom 4 will at least be as good as Confrontation, I agree Confrontation was decent, it got worse though over time when S6 decided to add and change features like you said that no one asked for and weren't even broken to begin with. Their new maps were great and a lot better than S3 and CA, Urban wasteland, Fallen, Kasbar, Quarentine, and the cold front maps. I would even say their Desert Glory version is better than Zipper's in S2.

why not remaster the whole series in HD?

A series like this really only needs one game because most people just play the multiplayer

well why have the multiplayer of the PS2 games when you can have the same maps and modes in the PS3 game?  (without any alteration of course)

i say they should have the HD remakes of the PS2 games and have multiplayer on SOCOM 4

Negative Socom 4 looks horrible, I would rather just play the old game, hell I rather play confrontation. I won't be buying socom 4... unless they release it with socom 2. If not count me out

why does it look terrible? , i haven't been following the game only saw a bunch of trailers , so i might have missed on something

It disregards the elements that made the socom franchise unique and uses crap that makes it look like just any other T/FPS. Sad because i was really excited when it was announced but I guess now I'm just gonna give Confrontation another chance.

how did you know that? did they show enough info ? i've only seen trailers and that E3 (?) PS Move demo.

Uhhh... yes.... Yes they have. Ignoring the oodles of info they spit on the Zipper podcast, if you've played past socoms you'd notice quite a lot from trailers and vids

Cover System
Regen Health
The fact that they're using a NATO team
The generic "small group of soldiers vs an unstoppable military force" theme
Unneccesary Cinematics and crap like that pointless big explosion that for some reason evey shooter needs.

Those off the top of my head. Point is, the game is just any other TPS now and not SOCOM.

I would say the same about desert glory, My only problem with that map is it seems their is so many things that can blow up its like a mine field. What I don't understand about zipper is Socom gave them their fame, So when the ps3 comes out what do they do... make mag.... Why not make a socom game then experiment, have your first game in the gen be something you know how to make. I'm not bagging on mag, I actually like the game (when I can get in a game I swear last night I waited in the cue for about 10 minutes!!) I just have no idea what zipper is doing. I hope Socom 4 sales well though because I know zipper has it in them so to speak I just don't know how anyone can bring it out. Everyone thinks that people can make games similar and then sell along their lines, the problem is these COD players want COD... that's it. I would have though Socom sold well enough in its PS2 days and even with confrontation with the online numbers that game was pulling that the people at sony would see their is a market their. Wasn't it the most played PS3 exclusive for a while. I remember when uncharted first was released, their still was more people online playing confrontation.

I think what some don't understand is that were not saying it won't be a good game  but that it CAN'T be a good SOCOM game. I honestly don't know how they can promise the most realistic experience yet bring in crap like health regen...

it could be good right, but it could be different from what we like Socom for, realism.
i don't want SOCOM to be another Uncharted or Syphon Filter, i want a realistic tactical shooter

To expand on this a bit, the small group vs the military force. there was no time in the past Socom where there was just waves of enemies coming at you... like you see in the video, it was real special forces stuff, go in extract the VIP, use stealth or force, clear the town but do it wisely because you aren't getting you health back by hiding behind a wall.... ugggg it just doesn't feel right from looking at the videos. I wouldn't even talk about it if they would just call it something else.

Knowing Zipper I'm sure they can make an enjoyable game but by calling it Socom is going to do them more harm then good in the long run I believe.
