lol thanks. I figured since it was dead, and waaaaay out of warranty (its a 60 gig launch unit) I had nothing to lose. I would never have done this to a working machine, or even a dead one still under warranty.

And yeah, my next step is to back up all my saves and deactivate my PSN account, along with delete all of my music/pictures/games/etc.

I have a plan for this PS3...

i see now that your ps3 has a second chance it has a new outlook on life. what's this plan? lol

A few tips from someone who has done this plenty of times. Buy an independantly powered intercooler(one with its own psu). This *can* reuslt in a permanent fix instead of a reoccuring problem. Also make sure that your HDD(if you upgraded) is 5400 rpm or (for the extrmemly rich) SDD. The heat from a 7200 is said to be a cause of system cpu/gpu overheating.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

LOL I left a heat pad out too when I reflowed my old PS3.....good times. But seeing as how your PS3 is on borrowed time, I'm assuming your plan is to sell it to a pawn shop like I did? I almost cried when I exchanged it for $180.

good job on repairing your PS3. I wouldn't have the guts to do that to a $600 machine. I've done that with a PSP, but I fucked up and it was really finished. Since then I don't open up such expensive hardware.

btw: Your style of writing is hilarious. I nearly spilled my coffee all over the screen when reading the part over the rubber part. XD
