Here is a video made from someone within the Bungie commuity that is both a dedication to Carl Sagan and our human race as a species.  It is incredibly powerful and one of the most amazing fan videos I've ever seen.  Be warned there are major spoilers for the game in here but I feel this is worth watching for all gamers, not just Halo fans.  The message in it is simply beautiful.

Agreed this monologue by him is just beautiful.  Its so deep and so true.  There were several points in this vid that litteraly gave me shivers.  

He's done plenty of amazing monologues, such as the pale blue dot for example. He was increadibly poetic.

Wow just watched his pale blue dot speech.  My god if people lived with that in their minds every day instead of all the useless fighting and hatred so many do the world would be a much better place.  Sagan was indeed a thinker well ahead of his time.

bad message, man is only capable of its demise, society is corrupt and we are all slaves, the day man will realise this is when aliens will come and rape us, hopefully that should open our eyes and show us what we are doing to ourselves.

that statement is false in every single way.  We as a species make our own path.  Are we capable of the things you wrote?  Of course.  But we are also capable of soooo much more.  As long as man sits and thinks things such as you wrote indeed there will be no progress.  But if people start thinking things like what Sagan is saying here we can overcome any obstacle that stands in our way. 

We are an adaptable species.

people will never start to think, first of all we are mental slaves of the government and of the media, and also we are blind because of society. man is not free, the only way to aqquire freedom is to flee society. you should seriously read "into the wild" even though its the most boring book i ever read  it makes sense and helps you.

we are an adapbtable species, but again the government limits that. man is not capable of having very advanced techonlogy, of understanding the universe completly, but when it comes to doubting. to being civilised, to freedom, those are things we cant accomplish.
