We can't really have an idea on how many they've sold if we don't know how many they plan on doing for first shipment...Seems kind of pointless to make a thread like this before actually seeing them on shelves

Agreed.  If Microsoft was waiting until the last minute to finalize the hardware and shipping firmware in the device, they may only have a million or two available on launch world-wide.  The key to sales will be after launch when the product is shipping 1-2 million per month afterwards...  Will sales sustain or drop like a rock?

Also, we have to pay attention to what is sold out.  It is just the device w/Adventures itself and not the console bundles.  Microsoft may have shipped low numbers of the device and higher numbers of bundles.  This would make sense given the demographic of consumer they are trying to hit (Casual gamer that doesn't have a 360 yet).  If this is true, sales may be substantially lower for just Kinect then people think, but we may see some sort of rise in 360's sold on launch week.

If kinect does what MS expects it to do we'll see a huge rise in the 360's sold and not just on launch week but at least until January.

If Kinect does what MS thinks, the hardware boost should be permanent.  Like the Wii was earlier this generation.
