There is no need for a concept like "feminism." There's a concept called "equality" which means that everyone has equal rights, male, female, black, white, whatever. If you think you need to be a feminist, try being an "equalist" instead.

That's exactly what feminism means.  You're arguing semantics.  I consider myself a femininist because I believe most of the world discriminates against anything feminine, whether it's women or homosexuality, which is perceived as feminine for no good reason.  We want to break the glass ceiling, and we want equality.

It may be semantics, but most of the "feminism" I've been exposed to has been like the examples above, a bunch of misogynistic man-hating BS.  People take the term "feminism" and turn it into "female superiority" under the guise of fighting for equality.  I'm sure not everyone who considers themself a feminist is of the same behavior, but this was a class at a major university with 25,000 undergraduate students, where every other professor I've seen teaching a course about social values was held to the highest standards of professionalism.  The word "feminism" implies that you're primarily concerned with one group of people: females.  Be concerned about everybody equally.

Again, I don't mean to imply that you're anything like my girlfriend's professor.  It's just difficult to discuss these things without making some generalizations.
