Forums - Gaming - Console FPS tactics, what is cheap?

what is cheap?

well when playing and you are dominating so bad that its boring. You know you are using an method of unbalance and cheap.

Me well when playing mW2 at the beginning i am not stupid and discovered all the camp spots in around 1 hour (thats right 1 hour) and i was off dominating getting killstreaks 3.0 k/d and after wards i was bored and went run and gun. i got owned :(

Of Course That's Just My Opinion, I Could Be Wrong

I haven't really run into anything that bothers me in Halo or Call of Duty, because I can always find ways to work around the problem.

However, what really got to me is the rocket launcher spammers of Killzone 2. I mean, all they do is rush into the enemy lines and blow themselves up along with one or 2 people. Funny thing is, whenever I look at their stats, they have negative KDR. I mean, whether they're just masochists or complete idiots is beyond me, but I can't see how any sane person can bear to keep on dying like that.

However, what I really hate is how loosely the term "cheap" is tossed around. Like in MGO (or Halo and COD), GOD those kids love to complain and kick if things aren't going their way. In fact, in MGO nowadays, one getting owned = the person is using a lagswitch.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

Spawn point camping is definitely a very cheap tactic. If the other player has no means or time to protect themselves then it's not fair. Abusing a game's physics to get to otherwise unreachable spots in the map is also a cheap tactic. Most things don't bother me in FPS games however I really dislike it when people use glitches in games like bunnyhopping in CS or snaking in Mario Kart DS. Yes, it's a skill and it's allowed but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Actually I thought of another one,  LMGs (Light Machine Guns),  should never be available for use in a MP mode.   Here is a weapon that can literally kill 10 people without loading due to its 100 bullet magazine/clip.

edit this will take forever, will return tomorrow with my full analysis lol

Depends.

In COD, the time it takes to aim down the sights can really hurt you (unless you're using sleight of hand). In Killzone 2, their accuracy in long range is poor.

you see this is where great and terrible game design comes into play. in MW2, BF BC2 and MAG the lmg is extremely overpowered due to bad game design. but in killzone and bad company 1 the lmg's are /were fine, the were extremely inaccurate, had high recoil and terrible long reload times, and that made up for the large clip and high damage.

Kinda silly to complain about camping when you play any CoD game on consoles - unless you've never played any of them, you should already know what you're signing up for. Camping wins in CoD. The game promotes it. It's not an exploit or game-breaking mechanic. Expect to see it. Be prepared to occasionally do it if you're desperate to win.

My definition of cheap is somewhat along the lines of exploiting. DICE still hasn't fixed blowing up M-COM stations in BC2. They consider it a legit tactic. Does that make it ok? It's so horribly easy to win doing it that rage-quitters arn't uncommon when you're constantly doing it, and I honestly don't blame them for quitting matches.

I can't really think of a "cheap" tactic that's in most of today's console shooters.

To see cheap bullshit just play a game Halo Reach....never have I seen so many douche bags so often in one game.

because most of them have been made standard gameplay. still doesn't make it not cheap, or the people who do it not complete f**king noobs.
