Not a chance. I seriously hope for Sony's sake that they don't only release a PSPhone and ignore the idea of a gaming dedicated PSP2, because if they did, they'd likely get destroyed in the phone market by Apple, and continue to be dominated by Nintendo in the handheld console market...

For a little over 10 years Sony has been very unsuccessful in trying to emulate the success of the iPod and iPhone with their own products and have yet to do it. It doesn't matter whether you're talking about their efforts to convert the Mini-Disc into a portable music player, Sony's MP3 players or the PSP, by the time Sony brings a product to market they seem to be 2 to 3 years behind where Apple is; and have (quite often) made questionable anti-consumer decisions that act as a posion pill for the success of their system.

In my opinion, Sony would be more successful if they started asking the question "What doesn't the iPod/iPhone do?" rather than trying to emulate what the iPod/iPhone already does.

Not likely but i could see it definitely take some sales away from the boys/young adults that still has a gaming spirit that an iphone cant satisfy.

Kids these days are being way too spoiled by their parents so i can imagine a bunch of young kids/friends playing against each other in the middle of class while the teacher is unaware writing stuff up on the chalkboard lol

Well according to Sony at their E3 press conference for the launch of PSP it was going to kill the GameBoy! I wouldn't be suprised if they made a bold claim like the PSPhone will kill the I-Phone.
