Forums - Gaming - Never visit a video game store at Christmas.

I was in Toys R Us last week though, and remember some poor old father doing his Xmas shopping in the games section (he had a list) and asking the old woman at the counter for SSB Brawl. She told him it was for DS.

Oh god... talk about bad service....

Meh, i havent really noticed it yet... But I'm soon gonna be getting a job over xmas in Virgin Megastores (or Zavvi, its new name), where i will be selling Video Games, CDs and DVDs!  Sounds like its gonna be immense fun! :p

I usually get my games before Christmas shopping fever hits. Makes things so much less painful.

Video games stores should definitely come here to hire sales rep and get knowledgeable people that actually love gaming and give 2 crap about it. Bad advice gives bad rep to the stores, if those mega stores care, anyhow.

Good thing I don't celebrate Christmas...

Do you not buy games either? Jahova's Witness or not, I think the point of Rath's post is that this season is crazy because of Christmas, not crazy if you celebrate Christmas.

Also, OT, I've never worked retail before at Christmas time, but I've worked fast food at Christmas time. For the workers of every industry, this time of year is a total bitch.

Jehovah's* Witness, and I think his point was that he doesn't HAVE to go to video game stores to buy gifts for his relatives/friends beacause he doesn't celebrate it.

Couple that ignorance with people trying to buy Mario for their PS2, and the random, unsupervised kids lined up on the demo systems, the guy who's pissed because he can't find a Wii, and the people who can't understand that trading in a copy of "Catwoman" is only gonna get them $1.00 in store credit- even though he paid $50 for it........Christmas is a good time to shop online.

Last Christmas, I sat back and listened as a salesman at an EBGames store in Augusta, Ga told a woman that she HAD TO BUY A COOLING SYSTEM FOR HER SON'S PS2 OR IT WOULD CATCH ON FIRE!!! I looked him dead in his eyes, and he smiled at me. I left the store, but man, some people's lack of research before they spend hard earned money this time of year is shocking.

My best friend's wife was buying her son a DS this holiday season. She called me and told me she had the system, but she couldn't decide wich car charging kit to get. I told her not to buy any of them. The DS battery lasts for about 20 friggin' hours and it came with an adapter anyway. My friend told me that the store clerk told her she needed one, so she bought one.

I went to EB on Saturday, and there was some little kid in there that thought he knew everything about every video game. I walked in there and he was like "Can I help you find something?" I had already been in the store a few minutes before, and I knew exactly where the game I wanted was so I told him "no". Then my mom walked in and he did the same thing to her. I got the game (Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles), and the kid started telling me all this stuff that you could do, and how fun it was. He was only about 8, so he was pissing me off really bad.

Also, the kids that are all gathered around the Guitar Hero demo, but don't have any idea how to play. It's annoying.

Heaven forbid children actually enjoying video games.

That's why I used amazon.co.uk for my game purchase this xmas. Got Starfox Command for £15 with free shipping without leaving my living room.
