Was thinking of buying the DVD. Haven't gone HD yet. Which is ironic considering I work for Sony in their DVD/BR mastering department LOL

Will be getting an HD television soon! I promise!

Its weird, my studio at work has hd and professional broadcast reference monitors, 5.1 surround sound with proper high end studio speakers etc. Then I come home and watch my DVD's on a fish bowl tv with stereo sound. Talk about juxtaposition...

Yeah, we make the DVD's and BR's. My department basically hadles authoring (designing the menus etc), quality control (watching and testing the DVDs and BR's), ingest (capturing the features off tapes), encoding and bit budgeting, editing, designing the graphics for the releases etc.

We don't just do Sony's releases either, we also work on universal pictures, the ABC (government broadcasting corporation), pretty much everything really. For example earlier this week I was working on the Twilight Exclipse release for both BR and DVD. Aswell as a new Bonsu disk for New Moon.

We also manufacture the disks aswell (though I'm not involved in that process). We make about 10 million disks a month, most of which are DVD's and BR's but we also manufacture PS3 games and cd's.

wow, sounds like a pretty interesting job,i know everything can get tedious in the workplace but still if you like films,

i must say i have been impressed with some blu-ray menus,it's quite cool what people do these days compared to dvd menus, infact blu-rays are pretty cool around with the stuff you get on them

@boutros i don't think its out yet but i read its coming next spring

Just a note, I live in Australia so what happens here wont neccesarily happen elsewhere. However I think its likely considering most of the Pixar films just got released here in BR. But I don't think we handle Disney, so I have no knowledge in regards to what Disney are doing so I can neither say yay or nay.
