Forums - Sony - How to handle a PSP memory stick that false reads too little space.

A friend of mine gave me a PSP with an 8GB memory stick. One of the games I got was Ys The Ark of Napishtim. I still have 7.3GB free on it, the game requires just 256KB to save, and twice now it says there is not enough space to save. Plus the saves already on the stick total just 1MB.

Can anyone help me?

Have you tried backing everything up and reformatting the memory stick with your PSP?

I'm assuming you mean I can just make a folder on my hard drive, move all the files onto that, and then format the stick? That seems obvious, but I just want to make sure the system allows me to move my saves like that.

And if I can, how would I format the stick on the system?

Yes. The folders in the SAVEDATA folder each represent a single save.

There's an option for formatting in the Systems Settings in the settings menu of the PSP.

Your stick must be broken, or you can just format it, (but you have to download the game again, do you have the game?)

go to settings > system settings > format memory stick

This is a 3000, so it's UMD. Is there a save games on the stick option?

If you have a second memory stick, there's a cool feature on the Psp-copy your data by doing this: put in the stick with your save data.  Choose "copy". Put in the second stick.  Once you've copied all of your data reformat that original stick.

In the future, always buy Sony sticks.  There's a noticeable difference between the performance of their cards and other companies.  Oh, btw, I had this issue before.  I just took the card out, turned of my PSP, took the battery out, and put everything back together.  Never had that problem again.

Well I reformatted the stick, so I'll try the game again. Also, the stick my frined got was by SanDisk. I think that was the company that co-developed the memory sticks, and a lot of reviews of the system noted those were the second best after Sony ones.
