It seems like a given that if a company is going to develop a one-to-one motion controller there should be a game where players can use the hardware to represent their fists and then virtually punch each other in the face. That's exactly the premise of The Fight: Lights Out, which unapologetically glorifies the back-alley brawl.

The Fight hasn't received a whole lot of attention when compared to the rest of Sony's line-up, but this time we got to play split screen and found it to be a whole lot of fun. The setup is simple, players calibrate each of their wands, pick their fighters and then have at it.

There are 12 characters to choose from, and while I picked a biker gang thug, my opponent looked a little bit like Sony's fake marketing icon, Kevin Butler. At first I flailed wildly, but found that a combination of jabs and haymakers were a quick way to level my opponent. I even got in a few dirty moves that can be accomplished by holding the triggers and moving the controllers in unison. My best attack being a spinning elbow to the face.

As both of our health bars drained the actual punching and wild gestures in front of the screen increased. By the end of the match, it turned out that The Fight was physically exhausting, a good reason for the endgame stats to include a calorie counter. In split-screen mode The Fight induced a lot of arm waving and laughter and it showed me that beating your friends' face in can be a great form of exercise.
Awww yeaaaaaaah!

I also thought the same thing when I read it a few days ago... The impressions of the writer are rather vague :S. Seems promising though, probably a rental first and if it is truly addictive a purchase for sure.

A bit of a poor written preview imo. The first thing he should have mentioned is the lag experienced/not experienced. Looks like there's still a bit of lag in the video accompanying the article. We've all seen clips of this demoed in various conventions or shows and the lag has been a major factor. Why not mention it in a preview. Poor journalism imo.
