Forums - General - A message to out of work Christians on here.

Greetings.  I was hesitant to post this on here, thinking maybe it didn't fit on here.  But, I am seeing the off-topic area is increasingly used for a wide range of subjects.  So, on this note, let me post about this.

I am currently working on a life reevaluation, to figure out how to recover from my prolonged unemployment.  I have been working to get a support group going to help myself and others.  I know that the normal thing is to fend for oneself, and hope for the best.  In these trying times, however, the going it alone isn't sufficient.  We are in a time the world doesn't care, and going it alone means generally a lack of networking.  So, to address this, I figured a support group on the web, and beyond would help.

The idea is to harmonize with what one's core values are, and then figure out what to do, and get on that.  I would welcome anyone to be part of this process, but I am personally trying to get in touch with what the Bible says and things of Jesus, and build it that way.  So, it would likely be Christian in nature the focus.

Ok, well I now will then ask if anyone here is of interest in this, or know anyone who is, to have them get in touch with me, either on here, or on the facebook group, "Workmen not Ashamed".  The URL: GodIsHiring.com also points to it now.

I do want to thank you for your time here, and please forgive me if I was out of line in posting this.  I personally don't have a lot of answers, but am eager in trying to work with others to have progress be made.  If I don't have success, at least it is worthwhile to have others do it.  I know one can say only those who have success should do things in an area.  But, consider the economy, and those who are in the area of employment, and tell me who is successful now in helping people.

im not insensitive!

but why would anyone post a thread about unemployed christians? also hes racist!! what about jews, buddahs, athiest, muslims, why cant he help the rest of the world!!!!!!!!

this is a gaming forum, i doubt people who are here dont have a job, or cant find a job, poor people arent gamers, most of the people here went to college or are going to, hence if they got fired it woudnt be as hard to find a new job then a 60 year old man who stopped going to school at the age of 13.

But richardhutnik does have a college degree (IT something I beleive), and he can't find a job. And I doubt that "racist" is the appropriate term for him targeting only Christians, though I agree that it would be nice if he was aiming to create a support group for everyone, not just Christians.

It's not nice to hit a guy when he's down.

Do you realize this is the OT forum? People post all kinds of discussions about certain ideologies. There are plenty of threads for atheists, agnostics, liberals, conservatives, ect. Its not racist for him to say "Hey, I built a support group! Here it is!"

Did you even read what he said? He said the goal was to harmonize one's faith in Christ with one's employment situation. It is a group for a specific set of people. That doesn't make him racist in any way. That merely means that he wants to help one specific subset of people. How would you feel if someone came in and said "Hey, I built a support group for single parents that are unemployed"? Would you say they were prejudiced against married people? No, you wouldn't.

On topic: I think it is a great idea, Richard. I wish the best for you, and will broadcast the link to everyone I know in hopes more people join. It may be in your best interest, though, to build a website out of it and monetize via ads, rather than just a FB group.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Thanks.  This is what I am working on now.  Please send me a private note regarding this, if you want to give some input here on it.  You can take my earlier challenge to you and link it to this.  People of all faiths are welcome to follow this and use whatever is involved, and adopt it to their own ends.  However, stuff about seeking the Kingdom of God and his righteousness first, and Jesus as Lord, has a hard time connecting.

What the hell? Leave the poor guy alone. I was unemployed for quite some time after the market crash of 08 so I feel his pain.

Good luck getting things back together, man.

In regards to your original post, you know it is possible to trade in old games I have to get store credit, and get new stuff.  You know, games I purchased when I had money.  So, I can be a gamer, and do things, even if I don't have a job.  And I do have time on my hand.

In regards to your second point, it is a case of starting first with the foundation of my beliefs and the core of my being, harmonizing there, and then going outward.  Things discussed here are linked to the faith.  And yes, others would be able to show up and get stuff out of it, just like Gandhi got inspired by "The Kingdom of God is Within You".  It is just what I am working on here involves Jesus, and doing his will, which is first for Christians.  I have it under the concept of "God Is Hiring", and that is the basis of this.  In short here, what one does as a career would matter to God.

By the way, it isn't racist, unless you consider Christians their own race.

On your last point, I have a Masters degree in Information Systems, and haven't worked a regular paid job since 2007.  The job market dried up.  A part-time janitor's position I had fell to the way side after I ran into leg and back problems.

Do what I did. Do lots of LSD. Go skitzophrenic. Get social security disability. Free government money.

I can even get a job on top of that if I so choose!
